I've found it challenging to keep my large house cool even with central air, so I've used this unit in my bedroom. This is my third one, and I believe it is effective. My last unit lasted over five years and was used almost daily. The unit comes fully assembled, and the window piece is easy to install. I did have to trim about 2 inches to fit my small windows, but the hose connects easily to both the window piece and the unit. I chose this model because it can cool down to 60 degrees, unlike my old unit, which only went to 64. I love it cold! The remote is straightforward and includes a display, making it easy to use. The performance is excellent—it cools quickly and operates quietly, though not silently. The unit is also portable, and I had no trouble wheeling it across the hall when cleaning a spare bedroom. It has a sleek, attractive design and is a great value for the price. In the past, I paid $200 more for a less efficient, bulkier, and noisier unit. I purchased this ac unit because even with the household ac set at 72f, my bedroom on the top floor of our townhouse was routinely 80-90f. This unit has had no trouble whatsoever with cooling my large bedroom down (it's half the upper floor!) and keeping it cool. It is reasonably sized and able to stay out of my way, easy to move when it is in the way, and so so quiet. The temperatures and settings are easily adjusted with the remote from anywhere in the room, and it is very efficient! I had looked at many different ac units when trying to make a decision on which one would work best, and this one is definitely it. I have been running this unit nearly nonstop since I purchased it 3ish months ago, and I have absolutely no complaints (And neither does the HOA I live in, it is very discreet in the window!) ... show more

The AC unit worked great for a while and then it had a problem. I contacted CS and their response and resolution was far better than I could have asked for. Supper quick replies helping me work out the mechanical issue and then they stepped up even further and went above and beyond to make things right!! I bought this unit for supplemental cooling. My central system struggles so this was to help maintain 75 in my livingroom in a split level house. So far, it's had no problem taking the strain off of the central system. Pros: Maintains temperature no problem. The top discharge of air helps distribute the air better to be more effective. Cons: The noise level is just ok. It's not the worst, but it is not what I'd consider quiet or even reasonably quiet. The install kit is also for windows that open horizontally, not vertical, so I had to make a few adjustments to make it work. I would also recommend buying a roll of insulation for the exhaust hose, or some of the heat will recycle itself back into your house. A few notes, this unit is 1 ton of cooling, it will not cool an entire house, and will struggle in a livingroom if the rest of the house is not also cooled by other means. In those cases, you really need two units, and go bigger (14k btu at least) on your main unit. ... show more

More than enough cooling power for my 16’x20’ living room. I have a box fan that I use to push air thru my kitchen and on to the dining room. The living room is the coolest,and it does shut down when set temp is reached (stand by and blower still runs.)Easy hook up to a window with all foam sealing components included. Have only had to empty the water tank once,after 10 days of 90% humidity days. I've been running it for the better part of a month every day. 5 stars ... show more

It’s an excellent portable air conditioner. It would get four stars if they could fix the attachment to the window ventilation. You have to use clear tape to secure it to the window. It often falls off because clear tape works poorly when heated up. If you don’t mind re-taping it at 3 AM in the morning please ignore my wife’s solution. My wife’s solution to the problem was to drill holes at the top and the bottom of the ventilation and use zip ties to secure the vent. It was not a hard fix. It only took about 10-15 minutes. Then apply clear tape around the holes as you can see in my picture. My other problem is draining the water from the lower drain. People that don’t have access to a walk in bathroom shower or able to wheel it outside should consider what I did. I used two pieces of wood to jack the unit about one inch and then pulled the drain. When it’s really humid out you will have to drain it often. However, I only had one day this year I drained it twice in a day. Normally I drain it every other day and it’s usually only half full in the reservoirs. Finally, there is a middle drain that holds about one ounce of water. You can drain it if you want. The machine doesn’t tell you when it’s full and it won’t leak on you. I drain it about once weekly. The machine will tell you when the lower drain is full. It has a good drain plug so I’m not worried about leaking. If you have it in your bedroom and you haven’t drained it in a while I would consider draining it prior to going to sleep, because it will click off when the lower reservoir is full. The unit works exceptionally well for air conditioning. If you want to use it as a dehumidifier you’re going to have to attach a drain to the lower drainage portal. In my opinion if you want dehumidification then buy a dehumidifier. Buy this if you need an air conditioner. ... show more
