These are basically an absorbent paper towel with a thin plastic film on one side. The plastic film means that liquids absorbed by the paper towel won’t soak or bleed through. These are great for protecting a work surface when performing any operation on small parts involving a liquid such as cleaning with a solvent, applying an adhesive/glue, painting, filling with a liquid, or lubricating. If you spill or drip the liquid, the paper will absorb the spill and the plastic film won’t let it soak through and damage or stain your work surface. Cleanup is super easy. These are excellent for many technical and craft projects involving small parts and small amounts of liquids. I am a nail tech and use these to clean my brush while applying acrylics. They are a bit thinner than the mats I previously used but they have had no issues absorbing the monomer. The plastic backing keeps my table nice and clean. I cut each piece into 6 smaller pieces and they are the perfect size!
