  • Great Kayak at the right price
I bought this a few weeks ago and have taken it out a handful of times. They kayak itself is great in total. It drives great, the seat is great and I haven't run into anything that I was thinking "Man this is a bummer". The pedal drive is awesome, it's quiet and quick. I looked at kayaks in person for a long time prior to taking a shot in the dark on Amazon and I'm glad I took that shot in the dark. Most pedal drive systems themselves cost more than this whole kayak + pedal drive. The only downside is the shipping process, it looked like my kayak went through the meat grinder on arrival. However, there was no damage so it was good. I was originally going to with Brooklyn Kayaks but the closest they would deliver to a 200,000 person town is 2.5 hours away and their customer service was horrible... Giving this 5 stars as I can't see anyone getting a better deal for a quality kayak. ... show more

  • Great kayak, love it so far
Pretty glad I picked this up. I wish I had more time to use it but I work for a public school and it is time to get ramped up for the next school year so I am busy. Taking it out this weekend for my birthday and plan on going down the Yellowstone. Have had it out a few times already and have really enjoyed myself. It's really nice not having to paddle all the time and I can use my legs for propulsion instead or at the same time and get a little extra boost. The paddle is actually unnecessary unless that's your preference. The pedal drive works very well. All the parts were there. I couldn't believe it. I was pretty glad I had already picked up some racks to put on my SUV and a little trolley thing to cart it down to the water. Make sure you practice getting it up on the car by yourself because it can be a challenge until you get it figured out. ... show more

  • Not bad for the price.
Pretty good and worth the price. If want better you pay better. This is worth the price and still going strong. If you get the rear trolling motor part make sure to get one that connects to the rail and not the cheap tube one.

  • Performance
My first time out I didn't have my seat adjusted right and my pedals were too far forward so pedaling my yak was difficult. I had to much weight towards the back with my huge tackle bag. The 2nd trip I downsized my tackle bag for less weight and got myself centered better to distribute my weight more evenly, I moved my pedals further forward and this kayak was much easier to pedal and it tracked well through the water. I'm very pleased with this kayak. I'm wondering if they make a trolling motor that fits this kayak where the pedal system is inserted? ... show more

  • Good kayak but not great.
The paddles aren’t very durable. They bent after two uses. The rudder works very well. It’s stable to stand and fish but not as stable as I’d like it to be. The chair risers are junk. I set them up and they came apart out on the water. I had to tie it together to keep the rails from spreading out. The feet pads come up since they weren’t glued down very well. The kayak moves across the water pretty quickly. Bummer there isn’t a reverse function. The storage container behind the pedals are great as long as you have long legs to reach the paddles. If the seat needs to be forward then the storage lid is covered and unusable. The bolt to seat the pedals, backs itself out as you use them so beware of that. (I had to hand tighten it multiple times on the water). The price should be decreased back to $1100.00. It’s a good kayak but not $1799.00 good. ... show more

  • Everything breaks on this kayak or falls apart.
If i could give zero stars i would! I've used this kayak every weekend almost for 5 months now. Pictured is a hole in the kayak next to the cup holder that developed only after a few uses. After a month of use I lost a screw that holds the flapper on for the peddles. It sunk to the bottom of the lake. I had the spares so had to rig the new one on using a different nut to hold it on. The nuts that hold the flappers ( not sure of the correct name for them) constantly come loose and you risk them falling off making the peddles useless. I finally put some loctite on them hoping this works. Make sure to always check these bolts before heading out that they are tight and if your out all day check them multiple times while out. Also the bolts to the rudder come loose and will fall off if you don't check them constantly. The rudder cord is ridiculously hard to pull up to get your rudder up and the rubber insert comes out with it every single time. The seat was very difficult to get on when using it the first few time and after some uses the rack you put the chair on bows out towards the outer edges making it hard to line the chair up to tighten it on. My boyfriend has an Oldtown kayak and it is definitely made a lot better than this. For The money get something else unless you want a lot of headaches and issues. ... show more

  • fish for 5+ hours, comfortable
I was surprised at how comfortable it is. I spend 5 or 6 hours on the water at a time and no discomfort of any kind...and I'm 70+. Love the fin drive...I do a lot of frog fishing in heavy cover and never a problem with weeds like on my trolling motor on my bass boat. No maintenance issue at all...although this is my first season. Great way to combine a light workout with my bass fishing. ... show more
