    • Fantastic Portable AC Unit for Keeping Cool

I've found it challenging to keep my large house cool even with central air, so I've used this unit in my bedroom. This is my third one, and I believe it is effective. My last unit lasted over five years and was used almost daily. The unit comes fully assembled, and the window piece is easy to install. I did have to trim about 2 inches to fit my small windows, but the hose connects easily to both the window piece and the unit. I chose this model because it can cool down to 60 degrees, unlike my old unit, which only went to 64. I love it cold! The remote is straightforward and includes a display, making it easy to use. The performance is excellent—it cools quickly and operates quietly, though not silently. The unit is also portable, and I had no trouble wheeling it across the hall when cleaning a spare bedroom. It has a sleek, attractive design and is a great value for the price. In the past, I paid $200 more for a less efficient, bulkier, and noisier unit. This ac works really well! I love the remote, it makes it easy at night to adjust the settings. This ac unit is pretty quiet and works really well, I have been using it for a month now and I have had no issues with leaks and it keeps a very steady temperature. I did have to put a pillowcase folded on top to keep my cats from walking across the top and turning it on/off, but other than that I am sold! I even bought another for the other end of my open floor plan house. With the two of them I expect to keep my 1100 square feet upstairs very comfy for years. As an older person looking to be able to be independent in my even older years I love that I can install very easily on my own and don’t need someone to help put a 80 pound a/c in my windows! All in all, I will keep with these units until the end! ... show more

My AC broke this summer and I live in my 5th wheel. Too many days above 110 degrees this summer and a broken AC, I needed something to keep my dog and myself from having heat stroke. It works beautifully! It cools my 360ish sq ft rv easily. We stay perfectly comfortable, even when it is 115 outside. No issues with water drainage, and our humidity ranges in the 40-60 percent range. I was worried about that, but it hasn’t been a problem. It’s not silent, but I like the white noise. I may just keep it instead of getting my rv AC fixed. I’m waiting for my first electric bill to see what the difference is. Very happy with my purchase! ... show more

I've waited to review this because I wanted to give some time to make sure I thoroughly ran it through its paces for a few months. This unit cools really well for me. I use it to cool my bedroom and I do not leave it on all summer, rather, I use it intermittently when we're going to have a really warm day. The area I'm cooling is approximately 300 sf and it has held up really well The window I am venting through is a very large, farmhouse window and I was impressed with the amount of hard plastic spacing material they supplied. I had no problem fitting the unit to my 5 ft wide bedroom window. So that really opened up additional locations for this unit, which I appreciated. I sleep with a fan on at night so the hum of the unit did not bother me. If you are used to sleeping in silence it would probably be too noisy, but I like white noise so it was not a concern. Its super easy to move around and has a small pair of wheels under it so I'm able to shift it out of the way to vacuum. My electric bill did go up a little bit during the hot summer months but its a pittance compared to what running Central AC runs for the summer. Couple of things I did not like about it: The remote control is all but useless. I have no idea what the person who designed that remote was thinking but when you push the up and down arrows it doesn't change the temperature and instead does other things. The remote is the opposite of intuitive and every time I mess with it I just end up screwing up the settings on the damn thing. They should definitely reevaluate the remote control because in the state that it is in, if I don't keep an instruction manual right next to my bed to remember how to use it it is totally useless I wish there was a way to toggle off the blue light display at night. You can turn it down so it's not as glaring, but you cannot turn it off which is par for the course for devices these days. I turn off my bedroom lights at night and rather than darkness, I am greeted by a virtual sea of tiny indicator lights from thoughtless manufacturers. This AC is no different and adds to the already ridiculous amount of light pollution in my bedroom at night. I guess it's time to take a walk around with a roll of black electrical tape. I have not drained the pan yet, but that will be coming in the next few weeks so if it goes especially bad I will make sure to update this. Overall I would buy it again unless I found another unit that had a better remote control. ... show more
