I bought this MPPT controller to use in my small solar system. I use a bench power supply to charge my batteries now. I wanted to test the controller, but it was dark. I used my power supply to simulate a PV panel. It worked just fine and allowed me to increase the voltage and put more current into my batteries.     • Review of the 10 amp MPPT solar controller.

OK, i have tried MANY cheap solar controllers. Most are worthless and don't work or last. This one surprised me. It worked perfectly out of the box.. the printing in the manual was tiny and I had trouble reading it.. It was easy to install and they provided some nice SAE connectors to use.. The connectors are heavy duty. All you do is connect the charger to a battery and then to a panel (in that order). You then hold the button down till it goes into the battery type mode.. which selects between lead acid, AGM and LFP types. This is very nice for this priced controller. it is easy to set up but the LCD display is very hard to see in sunlight. That's not much of a problem though.. I just wait till the sun is going down... this panel will handle 100 watts or 10 amps.. and is intended for use with a 12v battery. Which means it should handle a 125w solar panel. I purchased a few sets of SAE connectors and I use this for multiple batteries and panels. The controller is small and it fits in my battery box on the camper hitch. This would also work well for those newer campers that are "wired" for a solar panel... where you purchase a portable solar panel and place it near your camper. Wired means they run a wire from an external connector on the side of your camper and to your battery. You need a solar controller in line before it gets to the battery.. What you do is connect this 10 amp controller to the back of your solar panel and run the wires to the jack your camper. That way you can charge your battery... For safety: always use a circuit breakers rated for the current being used in line from the wire to your solar controller and in line on your 115v inverter to the 12v battery. ... show more

Even though this charge control regulator is quite cheap it does an awesome job of regulating my lithium ion batteries and my DIY solar generator Bluetooth app works exceptionally well I have had no trouble with connectivity and/or anything else for the price definitely worth it and size is quite small I got big hands and it fits literally in the palm of my hand ... show more

It took some finagling because my solar panel didn't have the polarity correct but being able to reverse the plugs was great. It comes with an adapter to that.

One of the few solar charge controllers with SAE connectors, seems to do its job, but is a bit finicky with AGM batteries and must not have a trickle programming ability when the AGM voltage is low (mine dropped from 12.6 to 11/10.9 and it won't charge it.
