Description

At 60 inches wide, this Family wardrobe is the largest in the Palace Imports’ collection. As the name suggests, it has something to offer to the entire family. Two side compartments have clothing rods at the very top allowing long dresses or coats to be hung while the middle section can be used for your shorter pieces. No shelves are included for that reason, but If more storage space is needed for the folded garments, it can be expanded by adding up to three large and eight small adjustable shelves while a three-drawer mini-chest in the middle will store the smaller articles. The wardrobe’s functionality is enhanced by the aesthetics of the all wood construction. Hand painted pine is beautiful, silky smooth and practically knot-free. Available in four popular finishes it will likely match many interiors or other perfectly compatible in color and style furniture pieces designed by Palace Imports can be purchased. I bought two of these wardrobes a few months ago, and I still very much like them for a number of reasons. First, they are well designed and crafted, using solid hard wood that is precision cut, shaped and finished. They are very large and hold a large amount of clothing and storage items. The hardware used is top quality, so the drawers slide and close smoothly, and the door henges are the high quality soft close design. The assembly instructions are well drawn out and written with plenty enough detail to make it easy to follow. The packaging used to ship the wardrobe is extremely well done, leaving little chance of damage during transport. (Three separate boxes for each wardrobe, 80 to 90 lbs. per box.) Though this product is a little on the pricey side, I feel that the quality of what I received is well worth the price. However, a word of caution: If you choose to order one of these wardrobes, make sure you know exactly what you want before you place your order, (color, style, size, quantity, etc.), or that you put in your cancellation order within 30 minutes of your original order, because orders that are cancelled due to customer’s discretionary change of mind, or orders that are not cancelled within 30 minutes will be shipped regardless of any cancellations, and the return shipment will be at the customer’s expense. (Return shipment of all three boxes through UPS will cost a total of around $425.) Neither Amazon nor Overstock will pay for the return shipping unless there is some visible damage or obvious manufacture’s flaw with the product. You won’t see any of this information on the promotion page for the product. So as for the wardrobe itself, they are great and worth the money in my opinion. Return shipping and Cancelation policies, not so great in my opinion, and need to be revised. (Why can’t a cancellation order be processed as quickly and efficiently as an original product order?) We were a bit nervous, but so pleased with how it all went. The support from this seller/company was surprisingly good. My wife is super picky about colors, and they sent her a couple samples. The cabinet that we received was exactly the color she chose, no surprises. Also, my wife is sensitive to smells and chemicals. And although you can smell the wood just a little bit, it is almost no odor, and my wife is doing fine with it. That's a big deal for us. Note, it is quite a process to assemble it, it took us many hours, but we did figure it out. Mostly, screwing things into predrilled holes and such, but it is a bit tricky. Definitely a 2 person job. Obviously, assembling it ourselves saved us a lot of money, it would need to cost a lot more if it came per-assembled (we checked). And it is mostly solid wood, not cheap pressed boards or such. We thank the staff for answering our questions, and helping us when UPS made a delivery mistake. ... show more

I had someone put this together for me and it took him a couple of hours, which wasn't too bad. He used power tools. I would have used the Amazon assembly option but it would have taken until mid-July to get an appointment and I didn't want three big boxes sitting around for that long. Also, I needed my closet! As for the armoire, it is quite nice overall. It's sturdy with a low-gloss white paint finish. I like that it's solid wood. I didn't get the extra shelves and I don't think they're necessary if you plan to use it for hanging clothes. It fits quite a bit! I was able to move all of my dresses and blouses in there as well as undergarments, socks, pajamas etc. The drawers glide in and out smoothly. It's easy to see everything. There is not a lot of room for shoes but that's OK as I have another place for them. Overall, I recommend it. It's like putting in a closet, but more flexible as you can move it elsewhere if you need to. And cheaper. But if you plan to assemble it yourself, have another person help you (the pieces are large and rather heavy, being solid wood) and have power tools. ... show more

Hesitated on spending so much for this, but it is worth it, as I don't think a could have gotten anything better from a contractor that was as good . I did hire someone to put it together. One door was the wrong one,but we are resolving it now. The look is great.

If you can build a basic Lego set, you can build this. It arrived a few days late, I assume that was on FedEx’s end so it doesn’t affect this review. I was worried about shipping cuz this product is made of mdf, it arrived undamaged and well packaged. Assembly took about 4.5 hours and was really easy. Dowel pins lined everything up nice and pocket screws tightened everything together nicely. I assembled it alone it a tight space. If I built in in a bigger room it would have taken way less time. The quality of the knobs is pretty low but that easy to fix. My only complaint is the paint quality leaves something to be desired. I was hoping for more of a cabinet quality paint being smooth. It’s more of a flat white paint with a dry texture. But I am happy with my purchase. Would not recommend for kids especially ones who are hard on things. ... show more

I was actually disappointed in the fact it came damaged. The piece was not on the outside so it couldn’t have happened during transportation of the product so I wasn’t impressed when I was assembling it and noticed on of the final pieces was ruined. I’m addition, I used liquid nail to make sure the armoire would stay together (previous reviews said it wasn’t sturdy) and I don’t think it would be as sturdy without the liquid nail in addition. For the amount this costs vs the overall product, I would say it isn’t worth it. ... show more
