My son’s room gets the brunt of the Florida sun all day. His windows were tinted a bit, he has blinds and blackout curtains but his room was still always so hot. I was looking for something that wasn’t going to break the bank to help cool his room. It was easy to put up, as others have said because it comes folded it does have wrinkles. Our AC went out not long after I put this up, I just rolled it up so we could open his windows. I could have used a bigger size as I didn’t measure before I bought it and it is short on the bottom. So pleased with this purchase. I used to come home from work and walk from the hall into our bedroom and felt hot. Put this on the window, and now I don’t feel a temperature difference and can go to bed cool! Completely blocks out light and easy to cut and install. Velcro is provided and holds well. Only downfall as stated in other reviews are the creases from it being folded and the appearance of it looking from outside the home. However if your window isn’t facing the road, it doesn’t really matter. ... show more

However, I bought the larger size and smaller size. Smaller one does have a stink to it. The larger size is stink free lol. I live in Vegas and the sun is hot in the afternoon in my office. This helped immensely!! Kinda an eyesore from the outside but I’ve tried a lot of things, tint and other blackout shades, this works. Buy the larger one and cut to size. Again, no stink. Smaller one: White (39"x59") has smell. Larger one: White (157"x 59") Curtains Window has no smell. Side note: Vegas heat kinda melts the sticky Velcro that comes with shade and ends up falling down. Will have to be creative with finding a way to hang without falling down. ... show more

Ok had it up for about 4 days in hot heat. I am on the second story with a room with a huge window with two PCs, one for work and another for FUN! The portable AC works well for 90% of the year, but once the weather gets to 90 degrees and the hot afternoon sun hits the window, the room can get hot and overpower the AC. Now, I grew up in Southern Utah and learned very quickly. I'm not too fond of the heat, and I love furnished basements often because they are cooler. Well how to turn my hot 2nd story bedroom into a dark cave. I already had mirror vinal tint on the windows, but it did not keep them heating up. Also, I already had standard blackout currents from when I worked in the graveyard, so I figured adding another layer of thin blackout blind curtains that are put up by velcro to the window frame and, with it, a white reflective side would keep the hot sun from heating. Well, my room has not got hotter than 80 degrees, even with 98-100-degree days. I sleep better at night, and my poor little black-and-decker AC won't have to work so hard. For the price you get a lot and you cut to match the shape of your window. I great for odd shape or very small windows too. In combination with the standard blackout current, your room will be pitch black. Which is impressive when you like to chill with low ambit light. If you cut them out properly, they should block out most of the light, but they are thin, so you can still see some light. In Tandem, with proper black-out curtain drapes, your room should will have no light. ... show more

I'm in love with this black out fabric. Easy to use. After you do one window you learn how easy it can be. Keeps the sunlight and heat out! I'm a day sleeper, so this was perfect. Plus it came in white to match my blinds and curtains. I have a set of sliding glass doors that faced East and would let a lot of light and heat into my house. This fabric covered them perfectly with 157 length. The only reason I'm giving a 3 star rating is because I didn't get a measuring tape and the fold wrinkles. I wish there were lightly printed dots or dashes to assist with measuring and cutting. Otherwise thrilled and I can't wait to see my electric bill go down after a month of using this fabric. I love this fabric so much I ordered another piece to do all my windows! Another reason for the 3 star rating is bcuz, the adhesive on the hook & loop fasteners melted in the heat! The adhesive melted and the fabric along with glue mess slid down the window! I had to purchase a separate brand of hook & loop fasteners and reapply the fabric. ... show more

When I first opened curtains, they have a terrible smell. the curtains smelled like dead fish. The curtains were very difficult to open up, cut, and use the Velcro. The Velcro leaves residue on windows or window frame. Not a great experience. Going in garbage and wish I could get my money back. Our RV is parked in Florida. The past few summers have been so hot that the a/c can't keep up with the heat. We decided to try BoxElfos 100% Blackout Blind Curtains Window Covers in our bedroom. We couldn't believe the difference they made. The bedroom is now the coolest room in the RV, with the use of just a fan! The curtains were easy to put up. It's important to make sure to clean and thoroughly dry the spot where the velcro attaches to the wall. We used a small roller to make sure the velcro patch was well married to the wall. The covers have been up for a year now and we have not had a problem with them detaching. It makes the room cool and dark which means a great sleeping environment. We have recommended them to several other RVers who have also had success lowering the temperature and darkening the bedroom. They are also easy to fold back out of the way if not needed.
