  • Perfect size for pots
I love these. They are the perfect size for pots and if you have become an older gardener like me and are cutting back, they are easy to handle. You can use a large gumbo pot and the kitchen sink to prep them with no mess if you want to divide them for two pots instead of just one large plant pot. I will be putting a rose bush in one of my favorite large pots tomorrow, and have some mini veggies and herbs to use up the rest of my favorite pots and the coir briquettes. They are literally saving my life because I have to garden for my sanity and these will all fit on an outside table. I feel like a lucky Louisiana girl. Flowers, vegetables, and all in sanitary fresh soil. Thank you so much. ... show more

  • Exactly half the size I anticipated
update: so I've used a couple of these bricks now and they are as i suspected, half the amount of coco coir i thought i was buying. That being said, the bricks are respectable quality, seems like each one has a little shred or 2 of white plastic. Being that these bricks are thinner than the ones i buy locally, I am able to break them in half over my knee (tho i'm fairly healthy and do a lot of digging, some with softer hands or thinners arms might get a challenge from snapping one of these in half), I love being able to break off half a brick to add some coco to a plant pot and storing the other half dry. The texture of this coco is pretty good, when wet, it makes a smooth fine consistency, I have not found any large chunks or bits, just a couple small pieces of husk maybe the size of a bean and very rarely. It's gritty or like course ground coffee, waters kinda like watering sand, where water soaks straight in, vs peat moss is very clumpy and lets water run off really easy. The bricks soaked up water very quickly, but the very center was a bit harder to hydrate, you can either: 1. use too much water and squeeze out the excess while moving over to another container, or 2. you can use just enough water, wait 2 minutes, break loose as much as you can, bury the dry bits under all the wet coco, then pack it down tight, if you need some more water in the mix, add it now and wait another 2 minutes, break it all up again, if any small dry pieces are left, put them in the center of a handful of wet coco and squeeze, the dry bit will soak the extra water from the wet stuff and should crumble pretty easy right after. I would buy and use this coco coir again, but only if the other bricks i buy locally aren't in stock. Exceptions would be if the local bricks doubled in price, or if these bricks were half priced. If the price were the same, i might even prefer these for their more manageable brick size for smaller batches, but i can't justify: same price, same quality, half the quantity. If you can't find locally for cheaper like me, this is a good product, great for storing long term, never get caught without a growing medium/soil amendment. The photoshopped images don't do this item justice, it's exactly half the size I anticipated, meaning I paid exactly twice what I thought I was paying. Live and learn. I buy the name brand ones locally for 3 dollars/brick, and these in the ten pack cost me 3 dollars/brick, but are half the size. I will update if they expand twice as much but nobody hold their breathe for an update. ... show more

  • Missing bricks consistently
I have used this brand for a while and they ship boxes shorted by 2 bricks often. Rocks and gravel are also common in the product. Sometimes it’s good. A lot of times it’s shabby.
