Over the last few months I have tried several of these peelers and thought I had a winner until this came today. Quickly put some unpeeled (with hard end still on) and what came out dwarfed what I was getting with a small round unit. I then went to clean and it was very easy with the built in red tool and the spray on my kitchen faucet even sped that up. I heard that this unit has broken before, but for my use I do not see it happening. Still rather shocked that these little garlic cloves yielded so much more than 1 virtually triple sized in my round garlic press that was peeled. . I just love the way this garlic crust works as it’s so easy to just plop in your bulb without peeling it and squeezing all the fabulous dresses with very little cleanup time.

I broke my Oxo press after only 3 years of use. The handles are plastic on the Oxo. This is all metal, and well made. My last Zyliss lasted 15 years. Don’t waste your money; buy the Zyliss!

This is by far the best garlic press I’ve ever owned. The only drawback is even with the little cleaning attachment, there is usually still some residue left.

    • Great garlic press
I was a bit surprised about how many tries it took to find a good garlic press, but this one did the trick (at least for me). It’s large enough to press several cloves at ones, the garlic doesn’t come out on the sides , and it’s easy to clean. Being able to press unpeeled garlic was a nice bonus as well. ... show more

    • It works well but cleaning can be a bit of a pain and it's too expensive.
It's a garlic press. It presses garlic effectively. It does everything I need it to and after several months of using it, it is holding up just fine. My one (admittedly minor and nit-picky) complaint is that it's hard to clean. The press includes a red plastic device that has small tines on it which fit into the holes on the press. This is used to clean any remaining garlic from the holes. And it works. The plastic piece fits inside the handle of the press. The only problem is that the cleaning tool detaches easily from the press handle and in my cooking tool drawer, the plastic cleaning tool always separates itself from the press and it gets lost in the mix of items in the drawer. Not a huge deal but inconvenient and just one of those things that can be annoying. I wish that there was a way to build the cleaning nubbins into the handle of the press so that all you have to do is reverse the press (fold it outward instead of inward) to have the nubbins engage the holes. I used to have a press like this a long time ago and it made cleaning it so much easier. Anyway, it's good. It does the job. I do think, however, that it is over-priced for what it is. It would be a much better value if it was priced around $12-$15. If it broke or I lost it, I would not purchase this particular press again. Instead I'd get one with the built-in cleaning nubbins for less money. ... show more
