I have 4 of these cameras, 2 of them have been outdoors for over 3 years, withstanding both heat, rain and freezing temperatures. They are easy to setup with the Zmodo app and very easy to add to Alexa as well. Note that there must be an electrical outlet nearby to power the cameras: they do not have any rechargeable batteries inside. The mounting bracket included feels like good quality, and the antenna is a fairly standard rp-sma antenna... however when mounted the antenna sticks out far enough that it can get in the way of positioning the camera (hoping to fix the issue with a shorter depth rp-sma right angle adapter.) Otherwise, picture quality is good in HD mode. The app seems to work fine, motion detection might be a bit sensitive. The web app stops video after a few minutes (wanted to be able to watch the the Pizza delivery to show up while at the computer, "fixed" it by using an Android emulator and running the app; silly solution, but it worked.) I tried their PC software, though nothing could seem to connect to it directly as it seems like that software may have been made for their more industrial level equipment. I was hoping to be able to directly access it like a standard web cam and use other software, but it seems like you really have to use their mobile app or web app. Not bad for the price, though. Pairing went OK, though it's took a while to get the camera to recognize the QR code from my phone. Once it did, though, it's been good. The included USB power is just a power "wart" with a fixed micro-USB cable. Which is fine. I am powering mine from a short micro-USB cable connected to a plug strip with USB and it works fine. Update: The RP-SMA right angle adapter worked well. ... show more

I've been using these cameras since 2017. Just bought my 8th camera today (Aug 2024). very good price. Easy to set up. The app works great and I can also put the cameras onscreen at work from my laptop. Notifications work great, I know within seconds when anybody pulls up in my driveway or walks up on one of my doors. I've never purchased the cloud storage. I rely solely on what is free which is notifications and on demand viewing. So far haven't needed cloud yet. HD looks great and has improved over the years. Some of my older cameras could use an upgrade but if it aint broke, don't fix it. ... show more

I am a long time cloud admin and network engineer professionally. I used Zmodo for years at home. At one point I had 18 cameras, a doorbell camera and an NVR. 8 of the cameras were PoE and that was the only thing that worked well (until the proprietary low voltage PoE switch failed). I discovered the hard way that Zmodo abandoned PoE completely when I tried to get my PoE switch replaced and was told by Zmodo to go to ebay - that they had abandoned the product. The wireless cameras they decided to bank their fortunes on have very poor wireless range and the newer ones had absolutely horrible night performance. The setup was difficult as the cameras has a lot of trouble recognizing the QR code on the phone screen. They constantly dropped the network and required rebooting. After years of trying and failing to make the Zmodo system reliable, I had to abandon them entirely and completely replace them with ring cameras. I have to tell you, I've never been happier about security cameras since I went to ring. I don't have a local NVR but I don't care. It's like $30/year for unlimited cameras to keep the data in the cloud. They even have two way audio. They are stable, cheap (on prime day), incredibly easy to setup and manage and even support solar so I've got them in places I could never put Zmodo. The actual metal casing of this camera was broken. So the next camera I got out of the box was intact. I hung it up. Zmodo cams are very durable and great because they use low bandwidth and have external antennas for better connectivity. I have been using these for like 10 years and they have worked like a champ. THE BEST PART is the free thumbnail clips that help in monitoring large properties with out having to comb through DVR footage. (These are motion activated clips like 5-10 seconds long that are free without cloud service) you can’t beat the price and quality!! ... show more
