  • Excellent Tool!
As an inspector this is a must have for foundation leveling. It's extremely easy to use and robust. I've had it for two weeks and have been told multiple times that this one tool earned the entire cost of the inspection.

  • Works awesome
I don't use it a ton, but it's very impressive. I use it for building decks and also doing things like patio pavers. However, my favorite thing to do is break it out during an estimate so the customer can see it. They've usually never seen one, and they are usually very impressed with the technology - which leads to better sales! ... show more

  • On the Level!
Technidea has changed the playing field for Home Inspectors and Surveyors alike. The use of altimeter technology far surpasses the rod and stick and the black magic that surrounded previous methods of level determination. While a bit pricey, the instrument is well worth the investment and is impressive right out of the box with one finger operation that makes me look smart and builds confidence in clients who witness the technology in action. Whut! Thanks be to goodness (and God) for delivering this product to my doorstep! ... show more

  • Fantastic tool for construction firms
Fantastic tool for construction firms l we have lasers, optical tools, water levels, and old fashioned levels in a variety of shapes and sizes. This is so accurate and easy to operate that we have found unlimited uses. We will be shooting forms pre pour, floors post pour and pre delivery. Have a ridge board that runs 20 feet use the unipod adaptor and take your top reading from below standing firmly on the joists. Dead on accuracy without fish to the superintendents. ... show more

  • Underwhelmed
I guess I have to finally admit that I am just continually underwhelmed by the Ziplevel product. This a $1000.00 tool that is supposed to be highly precise. My water level cost me about $30.00 and a Saturday morning to put it together. The water level is a pain to set up and use, but is highly precise and very repeatable. With the Ziplevel, you first find out that repeatability to the tenth-inch level is weak. If you set up a grid of points with a set zero and return to it day after day, sometimes a point will be +0.1, sometimes -0.1 sometimes +0.2. Not bad perhaps for rough work, but not really as precise as one is lead to believe. Not as accurate and repeatable as my home-made water level (manometer), and certainly not sufficiently accurate for work that may be challenged, such as in floor level surveys for home damage assessments. Then there is the cost and inconvenience that it needs to be sent back every couple years or so to be recharged at a cost of $200.00. You don't find this out until you make the purchase. In fact, prominent in the advertising is that it "never needs factory calibration". While this is technically true, they are playing on semantics. No. You don't need to send it back for calibration. But you do need to send it back to be recharged at a not-insignificant cost. Not to mention the hassle and cost of shipping. If you only use it a few times a year, one begins to question the value over other methods that do not require bi-annual service. I also ordered the carpet tip. From the photograph, one would expect to get a new machined plug for the end of the rod; a new rubber foot and perhaps with a nice stainless tip. Instead, for $29.00, you get a new rubber foot with (literally) a regular-old nail stuck through it. They even give you a few spare nails. But, of course, I have whole box of "spares" sitting on the shelf in my garage. With a little looking, I probably could have done this at Home Depot for about fifty cents. As I say. Underwhelmed. ... show more
