I have an IKEA Malm king size bed with their slats (the cheaper option). Although we have a firm mattress (Plank), within one year it began to sag. After some research, we discovered that the slats from IKEA were not supportive enough. Then, we found this product and applied it on top of the IKEA slats (no need to remove anything). Installation was incredibly easy (one person lifts the mattress while the other places the slats—it's about 13 lbs per side). We recently had the best night's sleep we've had in the last 6 months—we even overslept and didn't hear the alarm! Both of our morning backaches were gone! I'm not one to leave reviews about products. But I'll say, if your thinking about purchasing this product then I will encourage you to absolutely do so. I didn't have a box spring for my cal Kong mattress. But I have a whole bed frame and the box springs I had didn't fit inside the frame. I struggled for months trying to find a box spring or box springs that would fit. The ones that did fit, were to expensive for me right now. So I found this, I just arrived and I layed it out over the frame and put my mattress back down over it. And it was a match made in heaven. I order this product because the horizontal slats for the frame I bought were too far apart causing the mattress to sag. After I placed these vertical slats on top it was a total 180. My mattress felt supported and my hips and lower back don’t hurt any more. My mattress feels firmer and more supported. It’s incredible! We got a new luxury hybrid mattress and, after struggling to find a frame, settled on a platform with horizontal slats. The slats were 3.5" apart and did not offer a solid enough base for the mattress. My hips ached every night. We added these slats right over the others and now it's super stable and much stronger. The fabric is key because it prevents the wood on wood from potential creaking or sliding. It took two minutes on each side for my husband to lift the mattress and me to sneak these under and lay them flat. I couldn't be more relieved! The material is Ok but is is hard to remain steady/fixed under the mattress. They keep wobbling and creating a gap by the sides. I wish they came with valcro to keep them in place.
