I am so surprised how beautiful this bed looks in person. I mean, it looks great in the pictures but they don't do it justice. The stain is a beautiful rich brown mahogany and each piece feels very sturdy as it should. I purchased two of these for two different rooms and had no issues with either one. The packaging is above and beyond.... double-boxed and the styrofoam is enclosed in plastic wrap so it doesn't fall apart all over the place. One of the outer boxes was damaged but there was no damage to the actual product. It took myself plus one son to assemble the beds. I could've assembled on my own but it's nice to have the help. Took about 30 mins each bed. The box itself is extremely heavy and it took 2 of us to haul them upstairs. If I'd have been alone, I would've taken each piece up one at a time. The instructions are very simple and easy to understand. The screws and washers are well-labeled and come with extra parts. It even comes with a ratchet allen wrench which is really cool. All the pieces are labeled with stickers and you just match the stickers and screw in the screws. There is nice attention to details with the velcro system and the center beam has felt on top to reduce noise. The beds feel very sturdy and look amazing. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing and checked lots of other websites... Pottery Barn, Haverty's, Rooms to Go, etc... looking for a great bed at a great price. The only thing I might add are extra slats. For this, I'll head to Home Depot and have some wood cut to size to lay in between the slats that came with the bed. That is just because I want the mattress to last as long as possible and I believe the slats are supposed to be closer together. You could also forgo the slats and use a piece of plywood or very short bunkie board for your foundation. Overall, I'm extremely pleased and would highly recommend this. ... show more

I needed a lower bed due to my wife's mobility issues. I had considered using our existing Queen bed frame, and modifying that frame to accept wood slats, adding a center support for the slats, and then adding the wood slats to replace the box spring. A lot of time consuming work and expense. Researched this bed frame and it appeared to be just what I needed and was designed better than what I had in mind. Following the instructions made constructing the frame easy. Having pins to initially align the slats plus velcro to hold the slats in place at the proper spacing worked great! The adhesive strips depicted are not so strong that they keep you from lifting the mattress, but are strong enough to prevent the mattress from sliding on the slats, which works well. It seems to be a well designed unit. Put it together myself in less than an hour and I'm 71. I considered the version with a headboard, but I was able to drill a couple holes in the frame and attach my old headboard. Since this lowers the mattress to a sitting height for my wife, I was able to get rid of the step stool seen in the photo, so less clutter, and the height of the bottom rail allows us to once again use our rolling storage boxes underneath. ... show more

    • Good for the price. Watch the screws.

I've had this bed for about three years now. It assembled quickly and the price can't be beat for the quality. One real pain point has been the screws. After three years of regular use many of the screws have come loose - they're falling out of the screwholes. I wasn't able to find the screw size information in any of the product details but I work in a machine shop and we're confident that the longer bolts are M8-1.25 screws x 60mm long. I'm purchasing replacements from McMaster-Carr. I am going to attempt to reinstall them with some threadlocker (loctite) to try and get them to stay in place. It looks like these threads are a bit undersized which is likely whats causing them to fail over time. I will try to post an update to this review if it works. Great product for the price. If I were to do this again I would install threadlocker on initial assembly. ... show more

    • Easy to put together, looks nice

I'm 8 months pregnant and put this together on my own. It was a little confusing sometimes on which way a piece was supposed to go, but instructions were pretty good and I could have watched the video provided but chose not to. All pieces accounted for. No dings or dents. I appreciate the metal bar in the middle because we've had beds break before and this seems much more secure. Mattress comes today so we will see how it all fits. The slats do come with double sided tape to supposedly keep the mattress from sliding because there isn't a lip around the edge to keep it within the frame. I'm a little nervous to see how that holds up to a wild toddler but time will tell! ... show more
