I was having a problem getting my van to pull >12amps from this, but I sorted it out with some help. Chrysler limits the 110v pull to 12amps max, it cannot pull 16amp on 110v. Needs to have 220-240v to pull >12amps. I was really hoping to have 30% faster charge times for the van before I finished my "cart" charger which will plug into 110v @16a (1.75kw) to feed a 48v LIFePo4 bank ~10kwh, and this will hook up to a 240v inverter to push ~10amps (2.4kw) to my van almost doubling the current charge of 1.3kw. Hoping when I complete I can share that this helped, in the meantime I will be travelling with it so when I have the opportunity to plug into a 220v or 110v I can charge as fast as possible when out on long trips. (bumped my review up to 4 stars, but really it's not the products fault, I will come back and bump it again when it proves reliable. ... show more

The charger is very simple to use, the AMP setting and delay setting is very easy to use. It has a nice display that shows what the changer is doing, other chargers I saw a t a higher price didn't include the display. I haven't used the case or the mounting kits. The case looks nice, I haven't used it because I just store it in my garage when it's not being used. The mounting kits look like they would work OK, but I don't know for sure because I didn't use them. Ok so I live in a place where a 220 EU Schuko wall plug is available. So I got the idea to splice and make a 20 amp rated cord adapter female NEMA 6-20r to male Schuko. This charger plugs right into my adapter and charges at 16 amps and I have a Jeep 4xe and it takes 4.5 hours to charge up from 0. Very pleased with this set up, I was getting the normal 14 hours with the 110 outlet before this so it’s a big step up. ... show more

I'm using this with a 2017 Chevy Volt so your milage may vary. Setup was super easy, just needed to run a 240v recepticle with a Nema 6-20. After powering it on, it was ready to go immediately. I initially had some trouble getting the charge connector to latch on the car, but I think it will become easier with time and some wear. My only other complaint is that the kW counter is rolling and resets if the unit loses power, so it's not good for keeping track of total use, but it seems to work great for tracking usage on the day to day. Definitely would upgrade to a 30 or 40A version of this for a full electric, but this one suits my needs very well and at 8A, I can go from empty to full in roughly 8 hours ... show more

Using now about 6 months. Installed outside and gets full weather. Not sure the RFID cards really add much. Max current is button programmed (as compared to DIP switch) which concerns me as someone could easily set it to 32amp without me realizing it (it’s on a 30 amp circuit) so max should be 24 amp. I am new to EV Cars and purchased a VW I.D.4. I looked on State of Charge on U Tube and educated myself on EVSE. Based on what I investigated on Chargers this seamed to be a good choice. I have been using this EVSE for about 3 weeks and I have no compliments as it does every thing that it said it would do. Cable thickness is .70 inchs (17.7 mm) plug that I ordered is a 14/50 with a 25 foot cable with a very nice carrying case to put in the trunk. It does have the holder, cable hanger and the charging docking station which i was not expecting. I will write an other review in 6 months time to see if it is going OK. ... show more

This charger I specifically purchased to be my one and only travel charger. My goal was to connect to any power source with any amperage and carry numerous adapters to do so. I've found amperage selection is easy and it holds it in memory for the next time you charge. My issue is that this charger is missing the bar just slightly in regards to it's neutral power connection. Well, it doesn't exist, like most EV chargers today. It just uses the two hots and a ground to charge. They state it supports lower voltages and I can confirm this, however, because they are running their neutral on 120v over a hot, many common conversion cables will not work. You'll have to buy an EV specific cable or make one. I feel the company could address this and have logical chip smarts to adapt. So for now, I'll need to create a custom cable of my own. Regarding the actual charging with the unit, it works great. I love having a screen to tell me the details like kw charge speed, kw used, time, current amperage setting, current amperage draw, and charge status (only shows charging and complete, no percentages- that would be a nice feature though). So overall I think the product does the job, and by allowing amperage changes, meeting my needs. But because of this plug situation (no neutral), I have to dock a star. I dock another star due to the quality of the cable connector. It's not the one in the picture for the 14-50 end. It's a cheaper quality one that's not sealed. The cable is loose and able to twist easily because there's no strain protection. I decided to open up the plug and that's when I realized they neglected the neutral connector but also that they didn't bother to put in a bushing and strain protector. The J1772 end though does have strain protection and seems of solid build. There's also a lock hole should you want to lock the charger to the car, which is something I'll be doing. The only other feature I think in the future would be nice is to have it connect to a phone via BT or WiFi. Then you could monitor charge status remotely and even configure settings. ... show more

I use this since my wife has a EV with this socket and I use an adapter for my Tesla. Works well but while my Tesla charger could tell there was a problem with heat due to bad connection in the wall (and lowered Amos automatically) this charger just pumped along at the higher amps and eventually melted the outlet and the charger prongs. Lucky no fire. I’d still recommend it but if the plug feels hot you have an outlet connection problem. ... show more
