It has ample room for pencils, color pencils, erasers, markers, glue sticks, crayons etc. I don’t really use the lock mechanism but I am sure it is useful if that is something important for you. This is an awesome pencil case for my 7th grade boy! I’ve always hated how dirty previous pencil cases and the items within them end up getting because of the mix of colored pencils and lead pencils piled on top of each other in the case. My son loved this! It fits perfectly in his book bag and it’s able to hold all his supplies. The one thing he couldn’t is all of his glue sticks but… we got the extra large ones soooo that made sense. Had we gotten the regular size we would have been fine.
