Overall, this is a great keyboard solution for my generation of iPad Pro. Likes: I wanted the function row of keys, keyboard back lighting is solid, feel of the keys are great and typing is very responsive, and battery life is wild long. The one storage is nice, as is the magnetic piece that keeps it in place when in bag. Another great part is that the iPad has a case over it and the iPad pops off the keyboard case to be used separately or together with keyboard. Also love the price compared to the Magic Keyboard. I tried that one too and felt it was not nice enough to justify the cost. Dislike: I do wish it got power from the iPad but not an issue due to crazy long battery life. Keyboard wake up sometimes take a second before initial use but after it’s perfect. Also, sometimes the onscreen keyboard flashes before I start typing. Not a deal breaker though as the moment I use the external keyboard the onscreen one goes away. Last feedback would be the stand. The folio (non-keyboard apple brand case) is nice for taking up less space when on a table or traveling in the air (think small table tray on plane - see photos from recent trip) but it’s not the worst experience ever. Definitely doable. Overall, great value for the money. Would recommend for those looking for a quality external keyboard that has storage for an Apple Pen WITH security so it doesn’t fall out. ... show more

We bought this for my son. It is the same model that his older sister purchased for her iPad years ago. It only needs occasional charging and works great. Zagg products are a great value and hold up well under normal use. It was very easy to set up and connect to his iPad. It was a little tight to actually place the iPad in the case, but that is part of the protective design and was more a product of our fear of being too strong with placing it. I’ll start off by saying two things. The first is that I love zagg products. The durability truly has impressed me since splurging on a screen protector for my iPhone and the company stands behind everything they make with an excellent warranty. The second thing is more of a disclaimer in that I am very used to using the Apple Magic Keyboard (AMK). Everything about installation of the case and keyboard is intuitive. Everything snaps together as it should and the keyboard lighting is excellent. I really do feel this is a much more protective option than the AMK alone. My main issue with the case most likely comes from the fact, as mentioned above, that I have exclusively used AMKs and am used to their rigidity when folded open at whatever angle you choose. This case, when open, felt flimsy on any surface besides a table top. I typically have my iPad in my lap or on a soft surface like a couch or bed when using it so this was a deal breaker for me. That said, if you can live with that only drawback, this is a much more protective case than the AMK. I also own the Apple Magic Keyboard but prefer the Zagg keyboard for so many different reasons. The main thing I really didn’t like about the Apple keyboard is it didn’t provide wrap-around protection to my iPad. Unfortunately I dropped the Apple Keyboard (in the closed position with my iPad inside) a couple of times, and each time the iPad fell out or got damaged around its edges. On the other hand, this Zagg keyboard is PERFECT! It provides great wrap-around protection with a shock-absorbing rubber bumper. I also love that the keyboard and bumper are two separate pieces, allowing me to remove the iPad from the keyboard without having to remove it from the bumper. Other great things about the Zagg: • Keyboard feels good (9/10). For comparison, I would rate the Magic Keyboard as a 10/10. • Has hot keys that the Magic Keyboard doesn’t have. • I personally like that it has a separate battery and doesn’t cause parasitic drain on the iPad’s battery (with the Apple keyboard, my iPad seemed to run out of juice too quickly.) • Unlike the Apple keyboard, the Zagg has a built-in holder for the Apple pen! And when you close up the keyboard, it securely holds the pen in place so you don’t lose it. The holder is also positioned along the side of the iPad, allowing the pen to continue charging. (With the Apple keyboard, I frequently didn’t bring the pen with me for fear of losing it). • It can be paired with two different Bluetooth devices and quickly switched between the devices just by pressing an assigned hot key button. This is a FANTASTIC feature that more Bluetooth devices should incorporate (in fact, I would prefer if it had THREE hot keys to pair it with three different devices). I use the keyboard to switch between my iPad and iPhone. • The Apple keyboard has an advantage in terms of the joint connecting the keyboard to the iPad is really strong and stays in whatever position you place it. That’s not true of the Zagg, which has two different slots that the bottom of the iPad must be placed into in order to keep it open. But (and again, this is a GREAT design feature), the two slots have a very strong magnet so when you place the iPad into it, it essentially locks into place. I’ve never owned a Zagg product before but am really impressed by the quality and excellent design features of this keyboard. ... show more
