  • Best Option I’ve Found
I use my iPad Mini 5th generation extensively, including with Pages, et al., and I need a physical keyboard to be able to efficiently enter text. I also need something easily portable, so that I can fit the whole system in a large pocket. Additionally, I need something that is durable and can stand up to a little harsh treatment, since I take the device everywhere. Not only that, but I need something that can prop the iPad Mini upright for easy viewing, and I need the keyboard to have a standard layout, so that I don’t have to adjust my touch typing too much from other keyboards that I use. All this considered, the Zagg Folio appears to be the best available option out there now. It’s not perfect. The one I just replaced only lasted 6 months. However, it did a better job than some of the other options I’ve tried in the past. These snap-on keyboard cases only take so much stress on their tight hinges before they wear out. There may be others out there for a significantly higher price that would prove more durable, but I haven’t seen one that appears to meet all my needs. Also, note that after a few attempts with keyboard cases that have a “360° rotation” option, I decided the clamshell with a 135° limitation was better. The 360 types, though cool at first, fail too quickly and cost significantly more. ... show more

  • Low end for Zagg
If you get it for a good price then this case is worth it, but it is made with cheap materials that are so light it will only stay upright at about half the possible angles. The real negative for me is that this case makes it VERY hard to perform some iPadOS gestures because the keyboard is too close to the screen. ... show more

  • Disappointing at quality and poor battery/shelf life
I wanted a hard shell case with a keyboard for my iPad mini 5. I love being able to take notes or browse the web with a real, (slightly) mechanical, small form keyboard. The native iOS touch screen keyboard is a cumbersome and not comfortable for me to use regularly. I was so excited to try this product. My coworker recommended the brand. It seemed perfect for me. The keyboard is small, but that’s what I was looking for and I found it super comfortable to use… until it broke in less than 6 months of casual use. It just stopped working one day, and wouldn’t charge no matter what different cables I tried. When it was working, I enjoyed it Eventually I bought a second one, hoping my original one was just defective. Nope! Second one broke in less than 3-6 months ago. I’ve tried to reach out to the company directly and nothing. I don’t usually write reviews but I wanted to help anyone that might be on the fence about this. If anyone has a recommendations for something similar but made to last, please do send them my way. Still looking for the keyboard case for my iPad. ... show more

  • Way better than the competition!
Oh I’m so in love with this little thing! Here are some of my favorite features: - It’s actually made for just the iPad Mini 5, not the 4 and 5. There seem to be some issues with ones made for both fitting the 5 just right. In either case, this one fits perfectly around all ports and buttons, which tend to be the issues with such things. - There’s a dedicated apostrophe key. Look carefully at the others on the market. Most of them have the apostrophe over the “p” or “o” — who can type like that?! - It’s small, obviously, and the keys are closer together than on a standard keyboard, but it takes very little getting used to, especially if you don’t have Huge hands. I have large hands for a woman, and I’m just fine. It feels a little like what I imagine an old school stenography keyboard would feel like. - Some of the keys are little “half” keys — the apostrophe and things like + - [ ] \ .... which is to say ones you don’t use every single day. Again, I’d so much rather that (and I could get used to that if I needed to use them a lot), than putting high-frequency keys like apostrophes and quotation marks on random function keys - Speaking of which, the dedicated shortcut buttons (home, lock, app switcher, search, and even a keyboard switcher which just brings up my emoji keyboard) are excellent. - The backlight colors are pretty :) - The outside of the case is nice; it has a nice texture to it. Overall the case/keyboard feels sturdy and obviously heavier than the ipad alone, but somehow not significantly bulkier if that makes sense? Solid without being clunky. - And the BIGGEST REASON: it feels like an actual keyboard. No plastickey/gummy/rickety buttons. Actual keys. It definitely doesn't hurt that it's roughly half the price of most of the other keyboards that don't tick half the boxes listed above. Immensely pleased with the purchase all around! ... show more

  • Note your side buttons...
It says it fits iPad Mini 5s, yet my iPad Mini 5 Wifi+4G cellular (model A2126) doesn't actually have a side button switch for silence/rotation lock. It only has the two volume buttons. So ,the cutouts on this product make it so it doesn't fit my device. Even though I couldn't actually use it, the hinge felt nice and the keyboard felt okay. The outside case, which is plastic, felt protective enough. ... show more

  • Great case, makes your iPad Mini a mini laptop.
I like almost everything about this Zagg Folio Keyboard case for my iPad Mini 5. Since it’s a folio design, there’s no kickstand or folding angle to support the iPad; there’s just a very sturdy hinge, so it opens to any angle. Also, the footprint of the open case on your desk or lap is essentially the same size as the iPad mini itself, a welcome feature on my crowded desk. The case is sturdy, and looks like it will do a good job of protecting my iPad. It has dedicated keys for iPadOs functions, like going to the Home screen, opening the Search tool and media control keys. The keys have a nice feel to them, and the backlighting is useful when I’m working at night. The battery life seems fine — I’ve had it about a month and the battery is still around 50% The only drawback (and it isn’t a problem for me) is that the way the iPad sits in the case makes it impossible to swipe up from the bottom of the screen. Fortunately, all the gestures that require swiping up from the bottom (Home, Dock, Active Apps) have keyboard shortcuts, so I can still perform those functions. ... show more
