Purchased to store homemade baby food purees in the freezer in portions. Works beautifully. After they are frozen, I pop them out of the trays and store in freezer bags. The bottoms of the trays are flexible so a little pressure to the bottom helps the cubes pop out.

I said “finally” in my summary bc I’ve had a time trying to order ice trays with silicone bottoms…these were my third attempt! The first try ended up not being silicone at all. The second was 90% hard plastic, and 10% silicone only on the very bottoms of the ice cubes. Needless to say, I paid much more attention to the item description for these! These are fully silicone except for the very top part of the trays where you hold onto them to fill them. Nothing sticks to silicone, and the whole bottoms are soft and pliable…but not so soft that they collapse when filled with water. You just fill these, pop the lids on them (yes, lids!!), stack them on top of each other (or not if you prefer) and freeze. Once frozen, it’s super easy to pop the cubes out by pressing on the bottom of them individually, squeezing the sides for several, or turn them upside down and give a little twist to get them to all pop out at the same time. They don’t really ‘pop’ out, per se, it’s more like a ‘slide’ - easy peasy!! Overall, these are perfect, exactly what I was looking for. Even better, they’re very similar in size to the hard plastic ice cube trays we’ve all grown up with, and they’re plain old ice cubes - no fancy designs, shapes, tiny little cubes, or any of the others I’ve seen floating around. Just normal ice. The different colored bottoms are super cute, and I’m sure that could be useful if you’re freezing various liquids you need to differentiate from one another (couch cough, alcohol) or even using them to make Jell-O shots (don’t hold me to that, I don’t know if Jell-O slides out intact the same way ice does, it’s just something that occurred to me!!). Whatever you plan to use them for, I very highly recommend them!! ... show more

This is an awesome set that comes with everything I need for so many fun projects. From baking treats for my chickens that enrich their lives (round ones move around as they peck so they are more challenging, square ones are great for hanging with twine or string), for individual meatloaf's for my family (and a dozen other recipes), or even epoxy blocks of our insect collection (of course that one will not be used for food afterwards).
