If you put the sensors on the inside of your mailbox they will last a long time. There is no monthly fees and they work 100% of the time. Get it. I have bought and used YoLink in the past. Great Products, Great Service Range, and AWESOME Customer Service! My most recent issue was reinstalling a door sensor. The CR Code was rubbed off and I didn't realize I needed it to reinstall it. Leah, and her team of technicians where able to find my QR Code (not sure how!). And it is working like a charm! After losing our freezer content to an open door twice we added this sensor to our existing Yolink fleet of 4 water leak sensors. I was a little skeptical about using this door sensor on a freezer door because of the 1/2 inch wide rubber seal but I am pleased to say that the sensor/magnet combination easily and reliably bridges the gap. The YoLink Smart Door Sensors are easy to install, simple to set up and provide great funtionality. I now get alerts on my cellphone (in app) every time a door is opened or closed. I purchased and installed six of these (one for my main entry door, one for the entry door from my garage to my house, and one for each of four sliding glass doors to my Lanai. The media could not be loaded. So, full disclosure, I don't ordinarily review anything on Amazon, but was tempted to and then the company offered me a free door sensor or plug as an incentive for a positive review. I'll give an honest one and if I get something, great, if not, it's fine. I am an Alexa skill developer (as a hobby) and have an echo dot in pretty much every room except the bathrooms of the house. I invested in smart bulbs and plugs and setup schedules and routines to try to automate the house as much as possible. I have a young daughter who obviously can't reach the switches, so letting her yell at Alexa to turn on and off lights provides her a good measure of independence. With all this COVID work-from-home happening, yelling at Alexa during meetings is not exactly desirable. I ordinarily stay away from smart devices with a hub, but made an exception to try this out. I initially didn't know the company was a startup when I found them, so I went into this ecosystem expecting a certain set of fit and finish and was not disappointed. Where I decided to place the hub I have a network switch. Strangely enough, I could not get it to work plugging it in to the switch, however adding it to one of my 2.4ghz networks worked fine. Installing the sensors were pretty easy. A peel away sticker already on the device lets you install it pretty anywhere. The door sensor smartly doesn't need the devices to be touching in order to register as closed. This allows for installation on the door frame and the door as seen in the video. It allows for a little gap between the door and the frame. There is automation functionality that exists in their app, but it seems to work only with YoLink devices, which is understandable. The company was super responsive to my requests and I didn't realize their API was beta, but they gave me access after a review of some stuff I was planning on doing. I tried the IFTTT integration and while it worked, the response time was inconsistent. Sometimes a sensor would attempt to trigger an IFTTT applet, but not work. Sometimes it worked, but was very late in triggering. Sometimes it worked exactly as expected. I think this is more an IFTTT issue than this product as I have seen this behaviour with IFTTT in the past. Smartly, there is Alexa integration and for me that was the game changer. The routine functionality in Alexa is miles ahead of IFTTT and works consistently for home automation. With one trigger you can action multiple devices and also have a wait function as part of the workflow. In one of my routines, for one of the bathrooms, once the door is opened, I make sure the water pump is turned on, the lights turn on and then waits 15 minutes and turns off the lights. The motion sensors are even better as they allow Alexa to action (like turn on lights) when there is motion and another action (like turn off lights) when there is no motion detected for a specific period of time. All in all, the devices work well and while I can't speak to battery life as yet, if you want to yell at Alexa less, get these devices and automate your life a little bit more. ... show more
