We have 3 of these! The sound is so much nicer than a digital white noise that sounds like a radio in between stations. My only complaint is that the newer ones are twice as loud as the old ones. We like just a little background noise and these are super loud even on the lowest setting. Otherwise these machines can’t be beat. This thing only has two settings. Loud and louder. Nothing else. Adjusting the vents doesn't help. Even on the far side of the room it's too loud. It sounds like a power drill. Returned.

It’s not worth the $50 price. $8 would have been fair. It shows a woman holding it with both hands. The one I received I can hold in my palm. I use it when I travel. Better then nothing I guess.

I've been using white noise generators for the last few months to help sleeping with tinnitus. When I was doing research on these, the Yogasleep (formerly "Dohm") fan-based white noise generator was one that very frequently came highly recommended. I have tried several of these types of devices over the last few months. This Yogasleep one is about as simple as they get. It's got an on/off switch on the unit. The switch can be toggled to 3 settings: high, off, or low. There's a fan inside the unit, and you can twist the top or sides of the unit to adjust the tone that comes from the fan, and use the 2 speed settings. There's nothing else to it. It emits a pleasing white noise and isn't hard to dial things in. The high setting is comparable to the other fan based units from other brands that I have (Snooz, Bestand SL-02). I'm a little bit torn on this one. The Bestand SL-02 copied this design and seems to have made it a little better. It sounds better to me, has 4 speed settings, a timer, and also some electronic relaxing sounds like nature etc that you can listen to in conjunction with the fan. This Dohm unit just has 2 speed settings, no electronic sounds, no timer. It's a very simple device, and if simple is what you want, this is the one to get. One "plus" to this unit comparing to some others is that this doesn't have a button to turn it on/off, but a physical switch... so you could connect it to a smart plug and turn it on/off via voice control (Alexa, Siri, etc). There's absolutely nothing wrong with this device, it is what it sets out to be, it is built well, sounds and works great. I just have to give a few stars less because others have surpassed it at this price point. If you're going up a few more dollars you can get app controlled devices like the Snooz which is also a fantastic device. I like being able to turn the unit on/off or adjust the speed settings while I'm laying in bed and the app control allows me to do that. With this unit. it's either on or off, the switch is on the unit, and it works best when it's on the other side of the room... so unless you connect it to a smart switch there's either having it on or off, or getting out of bed to go adjust it. ... show more

I have had tinnitus for about 15 years that I can remember. Some days the ringing is extremely loud and when I am in a very quiet room it is almost unbearable. I have used many masking techniques including white noise machines and noise devices and have found them all to be slightly helpful in their own ways. What I have always found to be extremely helpful is a fan. A huge, loud floor fan. What I cannot walk around with is a huge floor fan. I have found a few apps for my phone that make the same noise as a fan, but when traveling I have noticed that most of these noise makers have flaws. There is always a break in the noise where the recording stopped and then started again and when I listen for long enough it becomes irritating. Regular sound machines are portable, but they have WAY too many options. I do not need to listen to whale noises or the sound of rain on a street in Washington on a Sunday morning or (creepily enough) the sound of a heartbeat (?!). Yogasleep reminds me of the white noise at every single doctors' office in the United States. It is constant, it is calming and it fills the background. This little machine can be adjusted to a more high or low frequency fan (I don't know how else to describe it) and the white noise adjusts accordingly. It is still white noise, just at a different level. I love this machine. We have a fan running in our bedroom at all times and now we have the Yogasleep running in our kitchen. It is soothing and on my bad ear days I move it to where ever I am so it can help drown out the ringing there. ... show more
