  • Convenient to keep one in the car
Color: Red-10A
My car developed some white powder around the battery. I bought it and keep in the car in case of emergency. It is really small and doesn’t take much room at all

  • You'll get a charge out of this
Color: Red-10A
The first time I hooked up the YHCHKJ Car Battery Charger, 12V 10A and 24V Fully-Automatic Trickle Charger Desulfator to a battery, it read 24 volts rather than 12 volts. I knew that wasn't right, so I unplugged it from the power source, an extension cord, and then took off the black and the red battery clamps. I reinstalled the red and black battery clamps, plugged the charger back into the extension cord, and all is well. It read the battery as 12 volt and about 75% charged. It also reads the ambient temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius, as well as a few other things like how many amps are being used, etc. There's good information. The charger itself isn't large, about 3.5" by 6" by 2.5" I'm guessing. I didn't measure it. The cable for the clamps is about 18" long and the electrical cord is a little longer. Once it starts charging, you'll hear a fairly loud humming coming from the charger. At least you know it's working. I don't think I've every encountered a charger that makes as much noise. It's not a problem, because it's in a building that no one enters on a regular basis, so it won't be distracting or annoying. I wouldn't use it in my living room, though. The most important question is how well does it charge? At the moment, I can't answer that, but it does appear to be working properly. In the spring, when I want to start that machine, I'll know for sure how well it worked. I don't think I'll be disappointed. ... show more

  • Charges Well And Does NOT Overcharge In Maintenance/Trickle Charge Mode
The media could not be loaded. I was needing a small charger that would not only charge a weak battery, but also act as a battery maintainer. Our lawn mower and boat sits all winter. This will allow me swap back and forth between them once a month. I was so pleased that I order (and paid for) a second one to use on our electric gate to keep the battery fully charged. The battery maintainer (trickle charge) feature has been working perfectly for about a month. Operation is pretty straight forward. The switch on the right side controls which battery type you are connecting to. So I assume it is able to adjust to whatever kind of battery chemistry you have it set for. Since this is a “smart” charger, it will NOT charge a completely dead battery since it is unable to detect what voltage the battery should be (the one thing I don’t like about smart chargers). The digital readout appears more like and LCD screen versus an LED screen. So all the data is sort of greyish in color and is a bit difficult to read in sunlight. You will have to shade it in order to read it! Also, LEDs behind each battery type are not very bright and again…difficult to determine unless you shade the face of the charger from direct sunlight. Some people may complain about how short the power and battery leads are. For me, that is a positive. Seldom ever would most people be able to use any charger without the aid of an extension cord. So the shorter cord means less mess and easier to store. I feel the same way about the short battery leads (easier storing). But, I do wish they were about a foot longer as it would make moving/placing the charger in a more dry area if the battery you are charging is exposed to the weather. After using this for a month and monitoring battery voltages, I am pleased with the performance. It does do a happy sound once the battery is fully charged and will show FUL on the screen. Thanks! MY PERSONAL COMMENTS: I am an approved Amazon Vine Member. We are provided the opportunity to order (free of charge) many items that are new to the market, or where a seller just wants some additional exposure for their product. We are NOT required to review every item in exchange for using it. I personally only order products that are important to me (items I can use), or items that I have the ability to properly test (I have lots of test equipment) so that I can provide an honest evaluation & review (and not always a 4 or 5 star) based upon my use and testing of the product. Thanks…feel comfortable with any information I provide in a review. ... show more

  • Seems capable, but I have a few questions because it's not working quite right...
Color: Red-10A
Has a nice large LCD screen and a simple 1-button mode selection for motorcycle, standard, and the third mode which covers all the other battery types. Internal construction seems adequate with a pair of decent quality circuit boards and large heat sinks. The cords are kind of a bad joke though, with the charging leads measuring about 22" and the input power cord only 36" long. They are both quite lightweight as well, and at least on the output this may work against proper operation (see below). With cords that short you really need to have an extension cord for just about any application unless you haul your battery right under an outlet. This unit also carries some safety and emissions approvals with the CE and FCC markings, along with some others. I tested this first for topping off and maintaining a standard group 27 lead-acid deep-cycle battery. It reached FULL and had been sitting for more than 3 weeks with that same indication on the display in what I assumed was a maintenance mode. However I pulled the charger off for a while to check it out on a LiFeP04 battery, and when I put it back on the same (what should be fully charged) battery it has been running for more than an hour now back in charging mode with 75% and 100% flashing, suggesting that the battery charge has dropped to somewhere above 50% while the charger was indicating that it was full. So it wouldn't appear that it was actually keeping the battery topped off over the last few weeks. Next I tried it on a 100Ah LiFeP04 12v battery for a short time to see how the charging current and voltage were regulated. Although I didn't stick around to see the entire charging cycle I did note a couple things. Most disturbing is that I never saw the charger voltage get above 13.65 v, and these batteries need 14 to 14.6 v to reach full charge. Also the charger was indicating 14.1v on its display when the actual voltage at the battery (measured with two different Fluke DVMs) was only 13.65 v with a charge current of 7.1 amps. This is the part that makes me wonder if the output leads are too light gauge, causing the internal charging circuit to be sensing the higher voltage than actually reaches the battery due to voltage drop. The battery charger supposedly has a summer and winter charging mode with a sensor to automatically detect the correct cycle. My garage is a little above freezing at the moment and the charger is still displaying summer mode. Without spending more time troubleshooting this I'm not sure if I know what is working and what isn't. I did actually refer to the instructions when I started seeing what I thought were strange behaviors and learned nothing that would help. I gleaned more information from the Amazon listing than I did from the included instructions, and the feature list would seem to indicate that this is not working correctly. This seems like a nice little unit for the price but I'm not sure anything is working. Based on other more positive reviews I may have a defective unit, but the score is based on what I received and not what it might be. ... show more
