This spreader doesn’t work. I bought it for spreading salt on my driveway, and also for spreading fertilize and seed for my lawn. On the first use, it hardly spread any salt at all, and it slipped out of my hand and fell maybe 3 feet to the ground. And it cracked open. So on its initial use, it didn’t work, and it broke. I wouldn’t pay $5 for this item, let alone $ 70. The only reason I am giving 1 star is it won’t let you give a zero stars rating. ... show more

If I could give this zero I would. Salt kept getting stuck and the trap door which drops the salt wouldn’t open all the way so we maybe were getting 5 grains of salt out at a time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!!!!

As a woman I don’t quite have the strength to lift something heavy to use as a spreader, so I loved this option. I have several other Ryobi tools so I have the battery to use for this already. Keep in mind, it does not come with the battery. This was obviously not an issue for me because I have several already. I think it is the perfect size for me to be able to manage it when it’s full and not be too heavy for me. It helps that it will spread both grass seed and especially my ice melt, evenly for me.
