  • Rich sound, weighted keys, beautiful piece of furniture.
Style: 184 Color: Dark Rosewood
This is the best keyboard I have ever owned. It’s a beautiful piece of furniture in my living room, too. Keyboard cover is great. There are a lot of options , you can adjust every little detail you can imagine. The interface is pretty intuitive, and it has incredible reverb. I play the piano for pleasure and have had other Yamaha keyboards in the past, but this one is in a league of its own. It’s incredible, once you play this thing, you’re never want to go back to a previous keyboard! Came in a very large box, I feel as if the ‘size of a small refrigerator’ would be a good way to describe it. It is packaged meticulously well, and nothing arrived damaged. There wasn’t a whole lot of assembly that needed to be done, and the parts that did were very easy to put together. It’s just perfect. I will, however, be hiring someone to move this thing once I move out of my apartment!! ... show more

  • Very Happy!
Style: 184 Color: Dark Rosewood
After having to scrap our old piano (it was my sister's which made it difficult to part with) I decided to opt for the digital Yamaha and am thrilled with it. I was concerned about possible damage because there were a couple good holes in the outer box, but it was protected by inner packing. NO DAMAGE! Great packaging. Took a little while to assemble the piano but we couldn't be happier. Two people were able to easily lift the top and assemble it with no difficulty. The case is a nice rosewood coloring, clean lines, solid. The electronics were very simple to assemble. Love the key cover, pedals are well supported. The key action is just like a "real" piano and I absolutely love playing it. The various "sounds" are perfect, even have your very own choir, perfect! I did purchase headphones so now every member of the family can play, plink, learn, without disturbing. We love the piano. Yamaha, you continue to amaze. Thank you! ... show more

  • Plays beautifully
Style: 184 Color: Dark Rosewood
It looks beautiful and plays beautifully. I was a little concerned about how the speakers would sound but it sounds gorgeous as well. I think labeling this a beginners piano is misleading. Worth every penny ! Can’t wait to try the recording part of this instrument

  • Spectacular!
Style: 103 Color: Black
I've waited most of my years for the opportunity to sit at a grand piano, but the chances always seemed to elude me. Purchasing the real thing was certainly out of the question, not only because of the price, but because I live in a small apartment. Yamaha to the rescue! Somehow, someway, they managed to squeeze a 9-foot concert grand into this space-saving unit, and I am completely amazed by the tone and clarity it produces. This YDP-103 model is one of the least expensive of Yamaha's line of instruments, but I can't imagine the realistic sound being any better. Possibly when you pay more for other models you're getting more furniture supporting and surrounding the keyboard, but I don't think my ears would be able to tell the difference in the actual quality of tone. It arrived well-packed, and was quite easy to assemble. I'm still discovering its many functions, and I expect that to be an enjoyable learning process. In the meantime, if the only sound it ever produced was the authentic beauty of a masterfully crafted 9-foot concert grand, it would still be more than worth the money. This is simply one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life! Now, if I could only play like Rachmaninoff... ... show more

  • Great for Professional Musicians Also
Style: 184 Color: Dark Rosewood
Everyone likes to start with, “I’m one-hundred- year experienced person and that makes my review better.” So I’ll start with that minus the belief it’s better. Music has always been subjective. I am a professional pianist and teacher. I have a masters in piano performance. I studied at Juilliard. Take it for how you want. I was sceptical a bit, thinking the upper register was a bit twangy but have grown to appreciate the Yamaha brighter tone compared to Steinway. But it’s a digital piano and I think it’s pretty damn good for being just a wanna be upright. Went above and beyond. It will never offer the value of a grand piano in a studio or stage but I’d say it’s pretty. Especially for people like me in somewhere like the San Francisco Bay Area where having a bathroom that’s not one hundred feet away at all times is a luxury. The headphones almost sound even better than when using the speakers. To sum it up, for a digital piano in its price range, it’s impressed me more than it’s disappointed me by quite a bit. ... show more

  • Great Digital Piano
Style: 103 Color: Black
We love this thing! It has a great tone, it’s easy for my children to operate (we have a first time pianist in our home), and it’s aesthetically pleasing. It doesn’t have a ton of features that we’ll never use, and it has great and varied recorded pieces in addition to the many instrument voices it can simulate. I especially appreciate that it closes similarly to a traditional piano and came with a bench. It will serve us well. ... show more

  • Great while it works. Horror once it breaks. And breaks it does after 2.5 years.
Style: 184 Color: Dark Rosewood
When it works, I have no complains. Piano plays great and served us well for 2.5 years. All good things come to an end. Unexpectedly, one note started playing at abnormal high volume. A research on web indicates it’s a sensor issue and it needs to be replaced. We called Yamaha who kept us on a line for 15 min. before answering a call. A nasty rep told me that I have to take the piano to one of the stores with which they have an agreement. No in-house service as it doesn't satisfy their "in-house' service policy. He told me they don’t care how I get this behemoth of a piano to the shop. Cannot be fixed at home. And the mom-and-pop fixing places they gave me are even funnier. Many of them don’t have personnel right now to fix the piano. Bottom line – do your research. This thing breaks (and I had numerous issues with other Yamaha products) and think what you will do once it breaks. As Yamaha will not be helping you. And one more thing. A person in mom-and-pop shop told me that Yamaha warranty may not be a true warranty. It only applies to manufacturing defects. Otherwise one has to pay out of your own pocket. ... show more
