I am a professional pianist, have had Tyros 1 and 2, which I paid in the $2-$3k a while back, as well as P-45, an electric piano in the $400. The 373 has an amazing sound of grand piano, going from super solid basses to very sharp high notes. The touch sensitivity is decent (found out the 263 does not have that) and so the enjoyment of playing just the piano is great. The other piano / e-piano / organ sounds are great, as well as the guitars, saxophones. The accordion and bass sounds are not as good, they lack in depth and clarity - which is slightly disappointing. The rhythms are pretty good too. I understand this keyboard has all kinds of functions for beginners, but honestly this is a pretty decent instrument for professionals too - it is very light, under 10lbs, and so cheap that I wouldn't be concerned of leaving it overnight at a venue where I am performing, instead of carrying it with me. It is not a Tyros, with its vocal harmony, ability to save complex registration settings, and multiple rhythm variations, but for that price, it's really good value for money. I love my PSR-E373! This keyboard sounds amazing! I did the research, Yamaha may not have all the tech bells & whistles of a similarly priced competitors, but the sound quality is superb. The 373 features the grand piano from Yamaha's top of the line keyboards, as well as 11 super-realistic S. Articulation Lite instruments (also from their premium products) that will blow you away! There are a wide range of DSPs (Digital Signal Processors) to customize each tone, and the built in audio generator allows sharing of sound & video via the Yamaha Rec N Share app. Until 12/31/21 Yamaha.com/promotions offers a 3 month premium Flowkey membership ($60 value) for free - two days into that I was playing a simple two handed piece with Super Articulation Strings with a layered violin, OMG it sounded so good! And I just started playing! Don't know why this keyboard has so few reviews, I would totally recommend it to anyone starting out (Yamaha is now shipping this model with lighted keys, the EZ-300, for $50 more FYI). I found that, if you connect the E373 to Synthesia via the MIDI port you essentially get the same experience . Ok, so the power adapter (P130) is $10.50 extra, but it's worth it! And yes, the onboard recorder is only 2 tracks, but starting out do you really need more? The quality of the voices, effects & rhythms for me easily outweigh the lack of "extra" tech. It's a Yamaha, and it will let you sound great down the road when all the practice finally pays off! ... show more

This keyboard earned five stars from me because it delivers what I was looking for. The sound is very good - better than I might expect for the price. I am primarily a pianist, so that voice is important to me - and is very good. I use this keyboard to write songs and play music when I am away from my pianos. It works wonderfully well for both. I'm used to weighted keyboards on the Baby Grand in the living room and the old Yamaha Arius YDP-163 Digital Piano in my studio. This one is not weighted, but I knew that going in, and is not a big deal to me for how I use it. It has ports for my sustain pedal, USB to computer, and output to a sound system or amp if I need to make it louder than the internal sound. The internal speakers are fine for my use 99% of the time. I really like one simple little feature: There is a button on the console that reads, "Portable Grand." That button returns me immediately to the pure simple sound of a grand piano, no matter how many effects and features I've been playing with. I use it all the time, and it brings a smile to my face. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The voices sound good, I tried them all and use 1 or 2. The learning curve on using all it's functions seems steep to me, but I'm old and the instruction manual print is tiny. I don't like that the power cord and sustain pedal are not only sold separately, I had to buy them from different sellers so I had to wait about a week to have these 2 items. That being said, I do know that it plays very well on batteries! I like the touch sensitive keys. All in all, it's a very nice keyboard, just probably more than I needed. ... show more

Sound quality great and does a lot of things. Worth the money, but not a keyboard for just a child’s music toy. This piano is for children who want to really play the piano. It is very big, probably too big for those cheap folding type stands. I bought key stickers and the website has music you can print. It also teaches you step by step how to play a song and when you master it, it moves you to the next level. I personally find that it goes a little fast for me. I don’t know maybe it can be slowed down, I have not used everything it does yet. ... show more

The list of instruments and are expansive and sound rich. The touch sensitive keys are plastic but work well. For the price, this is one of the best pianos one can buy. I previously owned a Yamaha (which was not touch sensitive) and though it sounded great, this somehow sounds even better.

This is my daughters first piano. It’s great for her beginning and has a lot of features. She is able to record her music and store it, switch to a grand piano sound and even an organ. However she has quickly out grown it because of the keys. It is a 61 key s d she needs something bigger with more keys. But the sound is awesome the quality is awesome for beginners ... show more

Initial experience with Yamaha support website was good with specific emphasis on supporting students learning to play piano AND teachers.
