I love Yamaha keyboards. I've owned them for years, and they're solid as a rock. They take a beating (or so I'm told by other musicians; I'm kind to my keyboards) and keep performing. But the key to finding the Yamaha for you is knowing what you want to get out of it. The PSR-SX600 is a great keyboard if you like to: - Play with onboard accompaniments and use them as songwriting inspiration - Create arrangements right through the keyboard without using a digital audio workstation (DAW) - Record and share your quick and dirty arrangements - Play live as a one-person band (or use tracks you've pre-recorded as a kind of karaoke) It's not meant for: - Anyone who wants to get into serious digital arranging - Use as a stage piano in a multi-piece band - Beginners or anyone just learning to play keys The PSR-SX600 comes with tons of onboard accompaniment styles and instrument sounds. But if you find something lacking, you can create your own styles or edit an existing one. You can also import instrument sounds and styles by downloading them to a USB flash drive and then uploading them to the keyboard. Some of the styles are instantly recognizable as paying homage to famous songs. That one rock riff? Yeah, that's Bon Jovi. The piano pop style? Totally Elton John. Although the keyboard sounds decent through the onboard speakers, I have to admit to liking the piano sounds on my elderly DGX-305 slightly more. They sound more realistic and rich, which is why I've kept my DGX around for when I just want to play the piano. But that likely won't be a problem for most people, and the majority of the keyboard sounds are impressive, particularly the guitar sounds. I'm also not a fan of the SX600 keyboard action. Now, action is NOT what this keyboard is about—it's an arranger workstation, not a digital piano that's meant to replicate the acoustic piano experience. But I'd like the keyboard to feel a little more natural instead of light and, well ... plastic. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase. I can quickly arrange the songs I write (or save settings and create playlists for cover tunes I like to play), and I'm thrilled with the SX600's advanced feature set. (Being able to play the full keyboard as a solo instrument while the SX600 intuits my chord progressions from the notes I'm playing and automatically translates that to the accompaniment is just the thing I've always wanted in a keyboard!) Functions and sounds great. Good value considering it’s a step away from Genos. 61 keys compared to 88 that I’m used to on my last MODX8+ is something that I need to get used to. But everything else is amazing. You can upload or create your own styles of 400+ current ones aren’t enough.

Tried to get else where and not available. So a got it cheaper. Really great and the features are fantastic. Been eyeing the Genos 1 and 2. 76 keys is nice but the price is too high. The psr sx 900 is great.

Ok, I didn't really need this keyboard because I have a Yamaha Tyros 5 workstation already. The Tyros 5 was the flagship keyboard when it came out in 2012, I believe. It sold for about $5000.00 brand new. I bought mine used for $3500.00. I love the Tyros, but Yamaha then released the Genos workstation about 6 years ago, and it has a touch screen and I was curious about the other upgrades. But it sells for $5999.00 the last time I checked, and that is out of my price range. But I purchased, instead, the Yahama PSR SX 700 workstation 61 key keyboard. It was $1600.00 plus tax and that IS in my price range. I still have my Tyros 5 in my home studio, but I am using my new "700" in my living room. It is a matter of convenience to have it out there for me. I am a self taught keyboardist and I am constantly watching online videos on how to play this or that. So with the new Yamaha PSR SX 700 in my living room, it is right in front of my 70" widescreen TV, so I can cast the videos right onto my televison and have the video playing right in front of me. So I can practice on it, as well as learn the new technology that Yamaha has put into it. There are 3 versions of the PSR SX models, the 600,( doesn't have the touchscreen), 700 and the 900, all at different price levels depending on how many bells and whistles you are willing to pay for. For me, the 700 was the best fit. The PSR SX700 and 900 have the same operating and display as the more expensive Genos. Now, I just got my new 700 delivered yesterday morning and I am pleased with it. It doen'st have all of the styles or voices my Tyros 5 has, but it has more than enough. The sound is very nice and the speakers are built-in, so there is no need to worry about a bunch of cable or wires Again, for me, the price is right, and the technology is up-to-date. Before you buy, take your time and look at all of the other options as I did. I think you will find that these newer Yamaha PSR SX series keyboards are a wonderful choice. I bought this psr-sx900 arranger on amazon warehouse as a used acceptable condition. What a gem of a find! It was not in acceptable condtion, it was in Excellent condition for over 30% off for a new one. Now I have some amazon gift cards I haven't used for a while, and so my total was then basically almost 60% off the new price. This sounds as good as my old tyros 3 but with way newer technology, the keys feel good, the sound is awesome, if you can score a good music keyboard, arranger, or synth on amazon warehouse, do it, the percentage off a new one is absolutely a bargain, i was expecting a banged up instrument, it was barely touched, pristine condition. Thanks amazon will make a lot of years of enjoyable music with this guy! Plus so much lighter than the old tyros saves the back! ... show more

It has many functions, if you're not a regular keyboard player it's going to take some time to learn how to use all the features on it, you will have to be patient and have time to learn it.
