The shelf sits on a bracket with 2 holes for you to slide out of the shelf, 10 screws, 8 wall anchors, and the most detailed instructions I've ever seen for a shelf. First, you predrill 8 holes in the bracket with a 1/4" bit. Then, you want a level and a second set of hands. Someone needs to hold the bracket in place so you can again run the drill through the 8 holes to mark the wall. Now, the wall anchors are huge compared to any I've ever used. Instead of hunting through stores for an alleged 3/32 bit that I don't have, I opted instead to use 3/8" bit. Using the drill, drill the small holes in the wall to make them larger. Then, with a screwdriver, not a hammer or mallet, you literally screw the anchors in place. After that, line your bracket back up and start popping screws into the wall anchors where you predrilled earlier. Slide the shelf over the bracket (make sure you left yourself room to do this), and add the 2 short screws into the 2 back holes in the shelf to secure it. Add stickers over the screws if desired. Boom! Done. Now, it'll hold everyday objects just fine, but you aren't hanging on this shelf or using it to climb anywhere. You'll break it I'm certain. I ordered this rustic shelf and I have to say, I'm absolutely in love with it. This is a well-made, good looking rustic shelf. It is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. It needs a decent amount of space given its size. It does not fit the space I was thinking. That is on me for not measuring it. We are going to keep it and figure out a different place to put it as we really like it.     • Installation is flexible if you are handy, but not straight forward. Rustic look is great.
I like the rustic look of this shelf, and I also like the sturdy integrity with the inner frame used for installation. This inner frame can prevent a challenge for people less handy, but I think it offers more flexibility and security with a stud installation. This wood floating shelf is amazing. You get everything to this shelf up. The wood has a good weight and a beautiful stained color. Fits in any decor style. Its sturdy and my husband said its going to be easy to install. Im painting wall now but once its finished updating with pics. Great buy

This wooden shelf is gorgeous. I'm using it atop my dresser in my bedroom to give some height to display decorative items. The kit to hang it on the wall is also included so if you decide to mount it to the wall it should be quite easy. I don't want to say this was hard to install because I like that you had a lot of options. The installation instructions were a little unclear. I realized after a few moments that I had to drill through the one piece (the inner piece that slides into the shelf) to attach it to the wall. There were no pre-drilled holes. This is cool because it allows the user to install it where a stud is (instead of moving the shelf to the stud). It came with enough screws to attach this to the wall (I believe it came with 8 wall screws) and drywall anchors as well. Overall, it's great quality construction. It's secure on the wall. And it took me only a few minutes to install once I figured it out. I can't complain too much! ... show more
