  • Excellent Purchase - Highly recommended!
Style: Intel i7-1165G7
Had an eight year old laptop that I needed to replace. Was searching online for an i7 processor, but didn’t necessarily need the most recent generation (currently 13). Wanted at least 16GB RAM (though ideally 32GB) and SSD PCIE 4.0 of at least 500G (though ideally 1T). Searching for something light with Thunderbolt port to plug into docking station. Found this on Amazing for $499! Really great option. 11th generation i7 processor (2021Q1 rollout). Sleek and light (2.3 lbs). What I found very attractive was the ability to easily upgrade this laptop. It comes with 16GB RAM, but has an open slot for an addition 16GB (could upgrade with 2x32GB for 64GB, but that is probably overdoing it). It also comes with an additional SSD slot (you should note that it is PCIE 3.0 not 4.0). Given this, I bought the following: 1) A 16GB RAM card: ADATA Premier 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL22 PC4-25600 260-Pin SODIMM Memory RAM Single Pack(AD4S320016G22-SGN). I believe this card is identical to the one that is already in the machine. 2) A 1T SSD: Crucial P5 Plus 1TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 Gaming SSD, up to 6600MB/s - CT1000P5PSSD8 Solid State Drive. I would note that I decided to buy a PCIE 4.0 card even though the slot is 3.0 as I wanted future flexibility to swap the card, etc. You should note that PCIE are backward/forward compatible. For those who are concerned about the ease to DIY upgrade yourself, this one is VERY easy. There are seven screws on the bottom of the laptop. Once the screws are off, you gently pull the cover off, starting near the vents. Putting in the cards is relatively straight forward (just make sure to push them all the way in). ONE IMPORTANT THING TO KNOW: The laptop comes with Windows 10 Home. There is known problem with XPG 14 Xenia in terms of activating Windows. You need to FULLY update the software. Once you do this, it will easily activate. Just make sure to install all the critical updates. This is a known issue which XPG includes in the FAQ on their website. Thus far, I have really liked this laptop. So much so, that I purchased another and upgraded the same way I did the first one. Performance has been excellent. In case helpful, below is the docking station that I purchased to use. It has been working well. Please note that I only use this with one monitor so can't speak to the full capability of the docking station: Hiearcool Docking Station,11IN1 USB C Docking Station,Dual Monitor Laptop Docking Station USB C Dock for Dell HP Lenovo Universal Docking Station for Office and Work from Home. ... show more

Product Key for Windows 10 would not activate. Called Microsoft and they said it was not a valid copy.

  • Decent Little Thing
Style: Intel Core i5
Nice and light. Bright screen. Keyboard feedback is light but it is nice for an ultrabook. Gaming performance is pretty low (this is not a gaming laptop). Capable of 60+ fps in Dota2 if you reduce resolution and settings. Hard transition from my old gaming laptop, but this thing is 1/3 the size/weight which I am digging. The other item is mine came with 16gb ram on a single stick. This hobbles the Iris Xe graphics, which requires 2 ram sticks to achieve full speed (doubles memory bandwidth). It was another $60 to get the same 16gb ram from Adata so keep that in mind. The second stick definitely made a difference. My laptop was on sale on Amazon when I bought it, so maybe that is why I only got a single stick. Wanted to share for the folks on a budget that you may need to upgrade the ram to squeeze out the full potential. Update: was able to squeeze a little more performance out of it by using the usb-c/tb4 port to charge it and setting the Prime software it comes with performance setting to use battery when charging. This seemed to keep it a lot cooler than using the dc input jack, which helped with performance. Figured I’d share. ... show more

  • Underrated Ultraportable
Style: Intel Core i5
Great machine, overall very light weight and portable. Does everything well, nothing exceptional and upgradable internals is a huge bonus. Keyboard is very good and screen is bright and matte which is also rare these days. Basically Intel’s version of the Mac. Plenty of performance, low fan noise and heat and the only downside is the battery life which is around 5ish hours. Side note: I’m not an IT professional or Bill Gates’ love child but simply running windows updates as normal will solve the Windows licensing issue that other people had problems with. I’m not a brain surgeon or computer engineer, just a guy who knows how to press buttons. Highly recommended if you’re in the market for a windows or upgradeable ultra book. ... show more

  • Great ultralight.
Style: Intel Core i5
Edit: called the support number and got through right away. Advised that make sure all windows updates were complete and then check activation. Lo and behold there were still a few updates I missed and after completing, windows fully activated. So far this has been a great little ultralight. A couple things though. 1 Keyboard isn't bad but not great. 2 Will connect to my Dell WD15 dock and all monitors and periferals work, except it will not charge. I confirmed that it will charge via the TB4 port using another USB charger I have so it must be incompatible with the Dell dock. Original: Like another reviewer said, my windows will not activate. I am submitting the issue on Adata's website and see what happens. If I get an activation key I will revise my review. ... show more

  • Battery is awful
Style: Intel Core i5
Yes, it is ultralight. But the battery is a disaster. It will loose 60% of capacity just in 1 year of usage. Plus, you won't be able to find a replacement. Even in China. Buy something widely used.
