I know a lot of guys are real anal about their fishing gear. And while I admire that and I see their point I have caught the biggest fish on children's rod and reels. That's just the truth of it. This is a nice rod and I am so glad I ordered this length. Upon careful inspection everything seems to be fastened straight correctly and looks great. I matched it with the Zebco Bullet 30 MG Spincast. I will be using this for backpacking and so I needed something light but effective and efficient. I think this will work out fine. I caught an 8 lb catfish on a child's telescoping Pole. And it didn't break. Maybe I should have just packed that. Lol. Life is just full of Little Wonders isn't it? I bought this rod (6 1/2’ casting) to keep under the seat in my truck. I tried it out at a local pond and it performed great! I caught 4 bass with ease, one of which went 3.5-4 lbs. I used it with a Texas rig, chatter bait, and a rattle trap and it fished all of them well. This rod could easily be thrown in a backpack or golf bag. I only had to straighten the guides a couple of times in between catching fish. This is a well made rode for the money and far exceeded my expectations! I will probably be buying the spinning version as well to keep in my travel trailer. ... show more

The only response I'm giving 4 stars is that the butt is too short for a two handed cast. It works great one handed. I find casting with two hands to be easier on my old man hands.
