I'm guessing the 511 tacticals are a little bit better made, but these are lighter, comfortably air-conditioned with the black material, and they are easy to wash--I just suds them in the shower with me and toss them over the curtain rod. They dry by the next day...which is why I got the light tan and the grey ones. With a sturdy canvas belt, I CC comfortably with them. Seem like they will last a long time, and when I spilled soy sauce on them, it wiped off with a damp rag, so they're pretty stain-resistant, at least when new(er?). A little pricey, but I'll wear the same two pair all spring, summer, and fall, unless I have to wear slack or jeans. Maybe I'll update after all three seasons are done. ... show more

I don't leave many reviews, but i felt compelled to for these shorts (i bought in black and army green). They are an astounding value. They fit well and have enough give in the waist if you are in between sizes. The number of pockets is amazing and the wicking is sensational. Like the fit and material. Remind me of Revolution Race pants in design only for a quarter of the cost and fit a little better for me in the XL. RR pants are oddly tight, these are good. I am 6' 175lbs and I am glad I got the XL. Don't like no back pockets, but after having Fjallravens and Revolution Race pants (they usually have one back pocket?) it is not surprising to not see them. ... show more

This is a great short specially the 4 way stretch. The deep pocket seems relative coz for my iPhone pro max, it just doesn't go all the way in but compared to the other tactical shorts I bought, this one is indeed deeper although not deep enough for my need. I wish they had put a back pocket too, zippered. And other colors would have been nice if prized the same as the cheapest one - black. ... show more

Shorts are very comfortable and fit great. Whished I had noticed they have no back pockets, Guess I'm just old fashioned I keep my wallet in my hip pocket. I prefer a button rather than a snap for the waist closure too.
