  • Impressive build quality, solid software
Size: Small Standard
I've used numerous graphics tablets over the years, and they all seem deficient in some key way. So, I was a bit hesitant to give this tablet a try, as I didn't know much about the brand. I'm glad I did. The quality of the tablet, pens, and case is outstanding. Very solid feel, good build quality. (Not that packaging is that crucial, but it was really gorgeous). The tablet was a breeze to set up and wireless connectivity was up and running with zero fiddling. It performs great, and best of all, the software is really top-notch—most tablets have bloated or flaky drivers and software. It's clear the team at Xenelabs really wanted the software to be as good as the hardware, and they accomplished their goal. Bottom line: this is a great tablet at a great price. ... show more

  • Great For Photo Editing
Size: Small Standard
This is not my first tablet, but it is my first in the smaller form factor which I now love for photo editing work. I previously used a medium tablet from Wacom and this smaller size compared to my old tablet along with the overall function has been a worthy upgrade for me when working with photos. The build quality is very solid and I have not experienced any issues with lag while using it wirelessly. The price point for this small tablet and its included accessories is a really good value. For photo editing work, I think the small is the ideal size. If doing other types of graphical design, a larger tablet may be preferred. ... show more

  • Not working on 2023 16” MBP M2 Max
Size: Small Standard
Edit…the company reached out after they saw this review. They didn’t get my support request through their site. They offered a refund which I wasn’t interested in. After some back and forth with tech support we never fully figured it out. However, I’m bumping this to 4 stars as it is working much better now that I’ve figured out how to deal with the issues. Basically it wasn’t playing well with two monitors on my system. So I keep my laptop closed and just use the studio display when I’m using the tablet. When the pen stops “clicking” when tapping on things, I have to push the buttons on the pen to get it working again. This was a game changer and makes it useable. Prior to realizing that I can push the pen buttons to fix this, I was saving and closing my work and restarting my computer. If these two things are ever resolved I would update to 5 stars. This is for the small pen tablet-since Amazon keeps these reviews clumped together. Worked okay for a few minutes, when tested after first installed. Then went to work on editing an image in PS and it was acting up. It’s a variety of issues such as tracking, mapping errors and even simply tapping the tablet with the pen to click on something or drag something, it goes non responsive. I’ve tried both pens. I’ve tried updating software and and firmware. Tried with the usb dongle and with supplied usb cable. Tried a different usb port. Tried a different cable. Tried restarting the computer and the software. It will sometimes work for a few minutes and then acts up again. I really like it and seems made well. But I can’t deal with this. I tried emailing Xenselabs support and it’s been over two days with no response. Back to Wacom? I really wish Apple would make a pen and tablet and a programmable Bluetooth mouse for their new computers. Nobody else can seem to get it right. It would cost more but would just work. Btw I also have the quick keys and love them. No problems. Same system. Hopefully this will be sorted out with a response from them. But for now it’s too unreliable to use so it gets 1 star. ... show more

  • Better than wacom. I love the shortcut keys
Size: Small Standard
I tried out wacom intuos pro and this one. I ended up returning the wacom one because I kept getting little ghost strokes when I wrote notes with it in oneNote/Nebo. I also tried it with clip studio and would get random ghost lines spikes when I drew certain shapes in clip studio too. Yes, I tried updating the drivers. I tried older versions of drivers. I tried on friend's laptop/desktop and would have the same result. I also toggled windows ink. I also got a replacement because I thought it was just my device. Maybe if I got used to the random spikes, it wouldn't have super bothered me, but it was driving me up a wall trying to fix it for something that is expensive with so much less. So I tried Xencelab and just freaking love everything from the design to the feel. Plus you get the silm and thick pen.( I like using the silm for writing notes and the thick one for drawing). The soft case is also nice because it protects from scratches during travel and the front pocket fits the pen case and remote. BTW I am using windows so idk how it is with mac or linux. The only thing I noticed is that the refresh rate of the pen struggled very slightly with drawing the lowercase letter i super fast over and over again. It is not an issue though since I won't have to draw "i" over and over again super fast like that. Also like no one draws like that really. I just did the test because that is what first made me notice the wacom ghost spike was writing i / p's / just an = sign. Shapes drawn similar to that also caused the same ghost spike issue(the issue here is referring to wacom btw). I did not have this problem with xencelab. If you do notice a slight difference in refresh rate I guess just pick what you would rather deal with, random ghost spikes/issues with new driver updates(wacom) or "possibly" maybe slight noticeable slow refresh if drawing i type shapes super fast. ( I didn't notice this issue when cross hashing fast so idk what causes it exactly). I hate the ghost spikes messing up my flow so it was an easy choice for me. I also ended up getting the shortcut keys remote thingy later(WHICH is great btw) You can always get this later if you cant afford it now. I use the pen tablet for notes and drawing in clip studio paint. Just make sure to start xence lab app everytime you use shortkeys remote as that is how it knows your settings for the remote. ALSO I recommend to get the larger xencelab tablet size for drawing if you can afford it(It's perfect for digital art. I feel like any bigger and i'd have to do bigger arm movements which is not ideal in the long run. More and more pros are down sizing anyway because it's better for your joint health). The best setup is where you can look straight ahead at the monitor and draw on the pen tablet at the same arm bend level as what health experts recommend to have your keyboard. (just look up proper elbow/neck angles for desk ergonomics on youtube). I use a keyboard tray so I can lower my chair and keep my feet on the ground while having the tablet at a proper elbow level. NOTE: The smaller size is most likely good for if you are using it for photoshop to edit photos and such. ... show more
