I like snorkeling but don't love breathing through my mouth with a traditional snorkel. When I came across this mask-snorkel combo where I could breath through my nose, I had to try it. I took it on our recent trip to Hawaii and I have to say it's a game changer! It was so easy to swim and breath through my nose. Now, when I put it on I had to make sure I didn't have any hair struck under the mask (else the water would come through), and had to push the mask on tight on my face to make sure it was suctioning. But once those 2 things were accomplished, check, check, I was on my way. Another thing I liked was the snorkel came in 2 pieces so it was easy to pack. One thing to note, the mask fit me (Asian, female), but did not fit my husband (Caucasian, male). ... show more

    • Excellent Snorkel Mask that doesn't obstruct mouth breathing when surfacing

I'm an experienced snorkeler and I've used many snorkel masks with snorkel breathing tubes over the years including the full face snorkel masks. However, I wanted something that would provide the most comfortable and enjoyable experience for my snorkeling trips. I didn't want the traditional snorkel because I don't enjoy clamping my mouth and teeth around the snorkel tube to create the seal from salt water. I don't particularly like the idea of having to breathe through my mouth because I am accustomed to breathing through my nose. I used this twice on our trip to the Dry Rocks Coral Reef off of Islamorada, FL in the Keys. Each time it provided a fantastic experience! When I began my research, I had considered the full-face mask but I have had bad experience with those when you go for a deep snorkel dive and try to come back to the surface gasping for air, the full face masks just do not allow you to get a really deep breath of air when you come back to the surface without taking the whole mask off. That became annoying since I dive down to see the coral and underwater wild life up close regularly. Then I read about breathing complications related to CO2 and the safety hazards associated with the use of full face masks. I did come across one or two with newer technology to address those concerns, but I decided against the full-face mask because I didn't want to take the risk of not being able to use it if I were on a snorkel tour as many of the tours in the Keys and Hawaii will not allow the full-face masks on the tours due to safety concerns. My previous experience with full face masks also eliminated that as an option for me. With those two options above eliminated, it led me to this unique mask, and I am extremely pleased that I purchased it! When you first receive it, I recommend trying it on and dipping your face into a swimming pool to get the ideal fit to ensure that it doesn't leak and that it will be comfortable for you. Better to do this ahead of time than to be sorry during your trip. I did not have any leaking whatsoever with the fit of this mask, but I did cinch up the straps pretty tight just to be safe. I was able to see through the mask great! It provides a full, unobstructed view of everything. However, on the second time I used it, I dunked it into the water and didn't dry the inside of it out prior to using, so that resulted in a tad degree of fogging up. But if I had taken the time to dry it out like I had the day prior, then it would've been fine. BREATHING: I was able to breath completely normal through my nose in this mask. It was a great feeling to just pop out of the water and open my mouth without having to remove something. The mask comes with a small carrying bag and breaks down into a few different pieces, making it extremely compact to travel with. And, it is simple to put together for use. It also comes with a built in GoPro camera mount as a much appreciated feature. EXCELLENT Snorkel Experience: This mask gave me a fantastic snorkeling experience and I look forward to using this so much more on future trips! As this is the style of snorkel I grew up with, I can say I really love this updated model. An integrated snorkel allows the user to explore on the surface while breathing naturally through the nose, and will automatically block the airway once you dive below the water’s surface keeping water out (just remember to take a good breath before heading under). The half mask allows for the easy intake of fresh air at the surface from both the nose and mouth unlike a full face integrated snorkel mask. This is a versatile unit with effortlessly adjustable straps. It comes with a Go-Pro camera mount that can be added to capture your underwater adventures, and the easily detachable and foldable snorkel can even be completely removed, the mask plugged with the provided plug, and then used as a standard face mask. There is a complete booklet of instructions and safety measures (which I recommend you put into a ziploc bag to keep it with you and dry) as well as a set of ear plugs. All of this fits wonderfully into the provided small mesh drawstring bag making it easy to pack and take wherever the waters call you. One thing I advise, is to take considerable care in measuring the breadth of your face as recommended; I mis-measured and got a Large, when a Small was what was needed for a good seal on me. Still, for another larger head in the family, it fits perfectly, so we’re good there. All in all we are looking forward to many nose-breathing hours of snorkeling pleasure. ... show more

My jaw gets fatigued quickly with mouth-held snorkels, so I got this on a whim, with low expectations that it would fit well enough to seal and function well. But, I did my best to get it adjusted, and it seems to be doing the job! It's not swimming weather here now, so I gave it the bathtub test (feeling quite silly), and it works! I was a little leery about a snorkel that comes in pieces that are fitted together, wondering if it would leak. It's not leaking! An extra gasket was included, so if it does leak, I can replace it. I'm looking forward to using this for ocean snorkeling and lap swimming. I have some fine-tuning to do on a few technique things, and I think being able to keep my head down will allow me to focus more on the things I want to work on.
