The media could not be loaded. I searched through so many mortal and pestle sets and came upon this one, which I found beautiful. The picture shows a pestle that is not lacquered on the end that would be going into the mortar so you can grind herbs or seeds if you want, however my pestle is completely lacquered top to bottom making it a piece purely for decoration... which is not what I wanted it for. I sent a message to the seller over a week ago about this query, no response. I have not tried to use it because I don't want lacquer in my herbs or seeds. Beyond happy with this product. It will be a great addition to my altar. There are 3 pentagrams on it, which I wasn't expecting. It's thicker and bigger than I anticipated.

This is a good set for small items. It was smaller than I thought but very medieval which is why I like it. I wanted a wooden set as well as my quartz set just for quick use. Good for baking, crushing herbs, flowers, and spices. Do not soak in water! There is no clear coating on this fit this that are new. This is such a beautiful mortar and pestle. The wood is so pretty, and the craftsmanship is beyond perfect. I use it to blend oils, salts and herbs for spells without difficulty, though to get a powdery substance, you’ll want to use a marble or stone m&p.
