  • Works as advertised
Model: Mitre Box and Saw
Used on Homosote board, 0.5" plywood and pine boards. All good so far with no concerns for the future!

  • Very flimsy and cheaply made
Model: Mitre Box and Saw
I'm an idiot. I ordered this thing seeing that it had a 5 star rating but apparently I didn't see that it was only 1 rating. Firstly, the handle is two pieces of hollow plastic that I will definitely be remaking. The glue that holds the handle together is already giving way. The box itself weighs .699lbs (I used a digital food scale). It is thin and made of a sort of plastic that will almost certainly break after just a few uses. The cut lines are reinforced - barely. The plastic reinforcement braces under the cut lines are less than 1/8" thick and offer little resistance if the blade isn't perfectly straight. I highly advise you to spend your money elsewhere. Edit: Decided to return it. ... show more

  • Works like it's supposed to work
Model: Mitre Box
I saw some mixed reviews, and I get it. Listen, this isn't a top of the time miter box. It's pretty basic...like most miter boxes are. It's plastic, so it's not meant for heavy duty, consistent use. For that, I have an actual miter saw. I needed something for simple, small, wood craft projects. Mostly, for things too small for my miter saw and for the times I'm too lazy to walk to the basement to cut something. You could use this for a 2x4, but I wouldn't. But if you're cutting dowels or a miter on a trim, or any other simple light weight project, this will get the job done. It's definitely meant for a hobbyist, not someone working as a carpenter or who needs it on a jobsite. ... show more

  • Functional, But Not a Long Lasting Tool
Model: Mitre Box
A miter box is a must have tool for anyone who does fine word working. When a precise, 45-degree cut is needed for molding or any other item that we touch, feel, or look at closely…… a chop saw doesn’t cut it (sorry about the pun). Nowadays, plastic miter boxes have become popular with DYIers. They are inexpensive and do a particularly good job. The problem is, they eventually wear out. The first two projects I did with the Wonglea were a music box for my daughter and a jewelry box for my wife. Both turned out very nicely and looked great. For these cuts, I used a fine wood workers saw. The next test I put it to was making the cuts for crown molding I was putting in two rooms of my house. One was a smaller bedroom and the other our great room with many inside and outside joints. For the molding, I used a standard miter saw. The molding for the bedroom turned out great. Everything went together perfectly. However, about halfway through the great room, my corners began to NOT FIT TOGETHER. The problem, the slot guides on the miter box began to wear out from the saw (see pictures) cutting the plastic (I was always careful when making the cuts). I have another miter box made by Buck Brothers I’ve had for years. It too is now worn out for the same reason. However, it performed many jobs and lasted a couple of years. Thus the problem with the Wonglea. It is CHEAPLY MADE. It’s about half the weight of my old Buck Brothers box. The Buck Brothers box WITH a miter saw costs $21. The Wonglea by itself costs $14. I rate this product as a definite Do NOT BUY. ... show more

  • Good for DIY

Want to install base molding and crown molding by myself. This definitely helps me to figure it out the different angles . Good for DIY projects.
