  • Best smart scale around!
Color: White Style: Body+
The Withings Body+ is a game-changer! I use it daily, and it’s been essential for keeping me on track with my weight loss journey. The automatic sync with my health apps makes tracking progress seamless, and the data is detailed and accurate. It’s motivating to see all my stats in one place, and the setup was easy. Highly recommend for anyone serious about their health goals! ... show more

  • Tons of information; not so great for unsteady elderly
Color: Black Style: Body Smart
The app is surprisingly easy to use. It pairs automatically on the first. For any subsequent pairings the button is on the bottom of the scale. The free version of the app tells you your body composition (muscle vs fat) your fitness level, whether each measure is high, low, or normal, and your trends over time. It also gives guidance on how to improve. The scale takes a few seconds, then tells you your weight, percentage of muscle, percentage of fat, and visceral fat and shows the normal range. It also shows the user it thinks it’s measuring, your heart rate, the air quality index, and the day’s temperature. That’s a lot of information for a simple scale. I should point out, if you’re looking for this for someone such an an elderly person who has balance issues and can’t stand evenly with weight distributed on both feet and no winning side to side this won’t work. It’s very sensitive to any shift in weight. It will make its best guess and report an error. It also won’t shut off after that, simply display that estimate weight, which is both a privacy concern and a battery drain. ... show more

  • Does what I want it to do
Let me start with the bad - the really bad for some. The body fat percentage reading is terrible. That said, I have found this to be true of any scale I have used. From what I understand the more muscular you are the less accurate the reading if using electrical impedance (if that is the correct term). I am 6' and 220lbs with a 34" waist. I workout 6 days a week with about 3 hours of HIIT training and around 10 hours of lower heart rate endurance work. I am fairly fit.. The scale says I am at almost 30% body fat while calipers have me at around 15%. I sink like a rock with a full breath in the water - treading water sucks. In truth, I don't really care that much and the reading can be blanked so you don't have to see body fat%. I am interested in more medically appropriate measures like blood pressure and blood tests. I would also add that body fat readings fluctuate wildly. In two days, I had readings 4% apart. Pretty sure I did not lose 9lbs of fat in a day. I blanked out the reading and use waist measurements and the like instead - the same as any other scale I have ever used. The good: Set up was a breeze. I doubt it took 5 minutes to set up everything including linking to apple health and other apps I use. It is accurate, or at least consistent. I don't really care if I am 220 or 225 as long as the readings are consistent from day to day. I am interested in the trend. That said the weight is consistent with other scales. Our last scale fluctuated almost 5 lbs on my wife in just a few minutes. That did not go over well. I have read about problems with the app but I don't use it. It simply passes data on to other apps I use. So far it has worked great. I use apple health as a portal to other apps. The Withings app had no problem connecting. I weigh myself in the morning and the information is instantly passed on to the appropriate apps that keep track of working out, steps, heart rate and so forth. Only need weight from the scale. Price may be an issue for some. For what I use this scale for I am sure I could have found something cheaper that works fine. I just did not want to do all the research and this scale was recommended by people I trust. Any issues I have with this scale are not exclusive to it. Measures such as BMI are just plain ridiculous. Every powerlifter out there is extremely obese according to the BMI index. Health is pretty individual and these kinds of readings seem to feed into paranoia as much as provide useful information. Other than weight I am not convinced scales like this provide as much useful information as the companies would like us to believe. ... show more

  • Great Scale and here is why!
Color: White Style: Body+
These scales are great and here is why. They have several great features and only minor issues. The GOOD things are: 1) They track your weight WITHOUT opening an app. The cheaper scales require you to open your app to sync your data. My phone is not handy in the morning, and I did not want to have to deal with holding my phone while weighing or put it down right before weighing. These scales use WiFi and do not need the app open. Yes, you will need an account that is online, but it is private with a password. 2) These scales not only track your weight but your fat mass %, water mass %, muscle mass %, BMI, and bone mass %. These other things work with a caveat. For example, I weighed fully clothed and then without any clothes. To explain the sudden loss of weight, the scales thought I had a little more water and muscle weight and a lot less fat weight. This makes sense because it had to put the weight somewhere and muscle holds more water the fat. After weighing with no clothes, then my fat content when up and the water and muscle content when back down. My overall weight did go down the amount the clothes weighed. It is not perfect, but the fact that the water and muscle flipped with the fat after removing my clothes tells me that it is trying to calculate these components of your weight. I guess they need to add a clothes mass %. 3) It tells you the weather. This is small but I could not find any other scales that did this. Again, my phone is not handy and it helps me pick how to dress for the day. 4) The app and website are great tools to see any trends with your weight. They can graph all the things it tracks. The minor BAD things are: 1) The scales can mix up people weighing. This is due to it using WiFi. The other scales use Bluetooth but you have to have the app open. I think this scale can be set up to only use the app but again you have to have your phone with you to weigh in. You can correct them by reassigning the weights using the website or it also gives you the option to select the user when weighing in by tilting left or right and selecting the correct user. 2) It will only tell you the steps you made from the day before if you open the app daily. This is a nice feature, but it only can capture the steps to tell you if you open the app at the end of the day, or I guess if I left the app open all the time would work. 3) The scale legs or supports are hard plastic and can be slippery. The scales tend to slip under your feet when stepping on and off the scales. This would have been a deal-breaker if I was not able to fix it. I had some little rubber pads that came with a network switch I bought. I stuck them on and they are doing great. You could also buy some rubber pads for cabinets, but for $84.00 they should have being included. The above 3 minor things are why the scales did not get 5 stars, but they are really great scales otherwise. ... show more
