  • Best balance bike
Style: Natural 3in1
We adore the Wishbone Bike. After much research and debate, we finally bit the bullet and purchased the Wishbone for our son's Christmas present at the age of 2. Most balance bikes were at least a little too tall for him to be comfortable. The Wishbone had one of the shortest seat heights AND the option for him to ride it as a trike. That meant he was guaranteed to be able to ride it, one way or another, and the fact that it can flip to get even taller meant it had a long life, too. The packaging was excellent and everything was neat and orderly, yet with minimal packing materials. I loved that the extra parts fit in a nice pouch to save for swapping to the other mode (though since my husband still managed to lose them, I now also know that you can order extra parts from the company!). The bike was easy to put together. It looked fabulous and was very sturdy. Our 2-year-old loved it from the first on Christmas morning. He mastered riding it in a circuit in the house on three-wheels and eventually could turn corners with amazing speed - never crashing into walls! The bike is super light so that he could maneuver it even off the bike, and it was easy to throw in the back of the van to take to the park (where it gets lots of interest because it is THAT cool!). When he was 3, our son wanted it to be a "motorcycle," so we transitioned the bike to a 2-wheeler. He mastered that quickly and was soon tearing up the house AND neighborhood on 2 wheels. Being comfortable on 3-wheels definitely helped him master the 2-wheels with confidence. The bike is QUIET in the house, even on tile floors on which things like a Razor are super loud. The tires are non-marking and hold air well. Despite heavy use for more than 2 years, the wood never cracked or was damaged beyond minor nicks. The only problems we've had: - The screws holding the handlebars came loose and eventually the handlebar parts came out, altogether. (We lost a screw so couldn't put it back together.) So my son mastered riding it holding onto the holes for the handlebar, in the stem of the bike. Didn't slow him down at all. ;) - The bike is great for riding outdoors, but our kids ended up leaving it outside one day. We didn't realize it until quite some time later, after at least a full week of rain. (Our son kept asking where it was, but no one realized it had been outside.) This wouldn't be good for any bike, but is particularly bad for a wooden bike. It's obviously no fault of the manufacturer, though, and a known caution with a bike made of wood. It simply MUST be stored indoors. Heartbreaking as it is to realize the amazing, much-loved, and expensive bike is now ruined, we will - absolutely - be replacing it. Not only is it our (now) 4-year-old's favorite toy, but it needs to be passed down to his little sister, who will soon be ready for the trike version. We have recommended the Wishbone highly and everyone we know who has gotten one has loved it, too. I'm convinced it's the best balance bike on the market. ... show more

  • Fabulous for small children!
Style: Natural 3in1
My baby has loved this from day one, we gave it to her just before her first birthday. With the seat removed she has been using it as a walker and it has helped her confidence and balance for standing on her own and soon to be walking. It's been astonishing to see her learn to steer intuitively, and it is extremely stable, and doesn't hurt if she accidentally runs over my foot. One word of caution to any other purchasers who may have customs duties to deal with, this is the first time I have had a very terrible experience with Amazon, these fees were not included in the estimated shipping costs and I had a very steep bill attached to delivery. ... show more

  • An excellent balance bike for toddler aged 2 and above
Style: Natural 3in1
According to my friend who I had given the bike to his son, it was very easy to assemble it. The boy just took to it as soon as it was done. High quality wooden bike.

  • Wishbone assembly issues
Style: Natural 3in1
The bike is excellent for a toddler. We got one for our 18 month old girl so she could ride with her bigger siblings. Being low to the ground and not having pedals to get in the way allowed her to rapidly gain confidence in riding. Once she got stable enough, around 3 years, we converted it to a 2 wheeler and she had no problems after a day. She loves her bike and it is a very good design. However, the assembly bolts as supplied tend to fall off after riding for a while. You may want to consider using some locking glue or regularly checking the axle bolts because once they fall off, its hard to get a toddler to remember where. Wishbone does allow you to reorder but they make you order the whole axle instead of just the parts you need. This happened twice to us before we ended up fixing the bolts with glue. Also, these are made of wood so they do not suffer the elements so well. You may need to rewax the wood every season if you want it to last a long time. ... show more

  • Definitely worth the investment!
Style: Natural 3in1
I was a little hesitant to spend a couple hundred dollars on something for my baby (I am a garage saling, thirft shopping kind of mom), but I loved the concept, the reviews were great, looked like a great company and it's going to be in our family for 5 years, so I pulled the trigger. And I'm so glad I did. Was pretty easy to assemble and boy oh boy did my 14 month old get SO excited. The very first time I sat him on it (I have to put Cros or some shoe with grip so he can push the ground better), he took off like he was a natural! It makes him soooo happy and everyone who sees it is like, WHERE DID YOU GET THAT? And they don't even know it changes into a two-wheeler. I can't wait to watch him grow with it. I recommend it 100%. And I'm a chicken lover and the fact their logo is a chicken with an egg....they had me! ... show more

  • appropriate for almost any young age
Style: Natural 3in1
Although expensive, the Wishbone is very well made, and height adaptable. My son bought a 2-wheeler earlier, but has to wait for my granddaughter to grow into it. With the Wishbone, I assembled it in the "sagging" position, and she fit the tricycle just fine. In fact, she took off like a rocket. Seat height can also be adjusted quite a bit, and soon I'll convert the trike into a bicycle. As my granddaughter gets taller, I'll flip the "wishbone" into an arch and she'll get plenty more use out of this bike. Other balance bikes are good only for smaller height ranges. ... show more

  • great bike.
Style: Natural 3in1
bought these for our 21 month old twin boys. assembling this was extremely painless. i was able to assemble both in under 15 minutes (the first one took 10 minutes, the second took 5). the quality is great and easy to customize - changing height of the seat for example is very easy. the only complaint i have against this bike is that one of our sons' foot gets stuck under the axel (we have set it up in tricycle mode currently). he's getting better about stopping, reversing slightly and bringing his foot back out, but we haven't figured out how to stop it from happening. raising the seat didn't help - it made it too hard for him to ride. we've only had it for a month or so, but we are hoping not to have to buy another bike for another 3 years! ... show more
