The media could not be loaded. I have been looking for an excellent but reasonably priced cover for my Kindle Keyboard for several weeks. My search ended when I discovered the "official" Amazon Kindle Leather Cover. I ordered the cover in black but it is available in quite a few other colors as well (burnt orange, chocolate brown, hot pink, steel blue, apple green and burgundy red.) I chose black because I thought it would contrast and compliment my White Kindle Keyboard. I love the cover for many reasons. First of all it is well made (made in China.) It is real leather, not leatherette, pleather, vinyl that looks like leather... it is real leather. It has that great leather smell and the pebble finish is very satisfying to feel in your hand. The cover has an elastic closure band that keeps the cover closed when not in use and easily slips off when you want to open the cover to begin using your Kindle. The top cover easily flips behind the Kindle so facilitate comfortable reading even though the cover is still attached to your Kindle. Installing the cover on the Kindle could not have been easier... Hook, Rotate, Slide and Release. That's it. Your Kindle is securely fastened into the cover and is immediatley protected so that it has a much better chance of surviving a drop. I could not be happier with this cover. There are fake leather covers out there that cost as much as or more than this real leather cover. This cover is also available with a light Kindle Lighted Leather Cover, Black (Fits Kindle Keyboard) . That one is getting a little pricey for my blood. But I don't really require a reading light so for me the basic leather cover (this one) works perfectly. I wanted a Kindle cover that didn't ruin the feel of use of my Kindle. I mean, why get a thin and light Kindle and then put a bulky or heavy cover on it? This cover looked right, so I gave it a try - and very glad I did! For over six months, I have been using the cover and I love it. * Good Quality materials and design - Stiff and firm, so you know it protecting your Kindle from damage. Has the feel of a good quality leather bound book. * Easy to install and use - It takes just moments to review the instructions and install this cover onto the Kindle. Once on, it stays on. It never feels loose, never comes off (unless you want to remove it). * One-hand reading... no problem! - Thanks to the design of the cover, you can fold the front cover all the way around against the back cover, and slide the attached flex cord around it. Voila! You can still use the Kindle one handed, with very little added weight and almost no added size. * Attractive - sure, it's just a plain leather cover. But it looks like a nice quality book cover, and is never conspicuous or out of place lying about anywhere. Basic black is always in style. I've wanted a Kindle for quite some time and finally got one from my family for my birthday. I got the one with 3g as well as wifi since I do not have wifi at home. It was a little more expensive, but not much, and well worth it. It is more than I expected. Easy to use, easy to carry and has nice extras...dictionaries and links to google and yahoo. I love the fact that it is for reading and not web surfing and so on. I didn't want a glorified cell phone or hand held computer...I wanted books!! I can get hundreds of books and usually in less than a minute...and the prices are great. I really like the fact that I can remove a book from my Kindle, but it is kept at my Kindle site and I can download it again at no charge. I also like that I do not have to hook up to my computer to download material...it comes right to my Kindle over what Amazon calls Whispernet which is sort of like a cell phone connection, but the user does not have to set up a contract and there is no charge. It is easy to charge the battery and you can actually use it while it is charging. I appreciate the wonderful support; instructions on the Kindle itself, printable instructions, online articles for support, support phone numbers and email and so much more! I got the leather cover to protect it from bumps and dirt and so on. It doesn't add hardly anything to the weight and looks very nice. I think I will eventually order the light so I can read at night on long trips. If you are debating on getting one or not...I say 'Yes--get it'. I really like it!! ... show more

    • Good item, priced a little high
While you can certainly enjoy your Kindle without a cover, this is a nice extra to have. It looks good and offers some protection from scratching and other damage while you tote your Kindle around. It's designed to attach to your Kindle and hold it snugly using the two slots on the left side of your Kindle. (Now I know what those are for!) There's also an elastic cord to hold the cover shut. The textured leather also helps prevent it from slipping out of pockets or sliding on airline tray tables, which can happen with the basic, uncovered Kindle. The only two complaints I have are the colors and the price. The only colors that didn't make it look like a purse or a women's day planner were black and brown, and possibly blue. Having the choice of some other more masculine and businesslike colors would be good. The other is the price. Considering the simple design, the everyday price tag seems too high. I got mine as a "lightning deal" during the holiday season, and at $22, the price was acceptable. I think Amazon could probably do better on the price, though. The 4-star rating I'm giving reflects the quality of the item I bought and the discounted price I paid, not the regular price. I probably wouldn't have bought this at the regular full price. ... show more
