I really don’t like the original AirPods, or EarPods (Apple’s wired earbuds) for that matter. The hard plastic shell and bulky shape hurt my ears after wearing them for only a short time, and the “stem” is unnecessarily long and cumbersome. But Apple scored a home run with AirPods Pro. They are smaller, far more comfortable, and possess better sound quality than any earbuds I’ve ever owned (though admittedly I haven’t tried Bose or similar high-end ones that cost more than the AirPods Pro. Charging is fast, the transparent mode comes in handy for walking or using at the office, and the many little well thought out convenience features when used with an iPhone or iPad are helpful and are what people have come to expect from Apple. The only improvement I could recommend is to the noise reduction and transparent mode. For those of you who are not familiar, transparent mode uses the same external mics that pick up external sound to cancel it out for noise reduction (which works very well), but instead of canceling the sound, it explicitly adds it into the audio stream that you hear. So the voices of people who are talking to you, or warnings of potential hazards like traffic sounds when walking on a road, can be clearly heard rather than being partially blocked and muffled by the earbuds. Essentially it’s the opposite of noise reduction, and toggling between the two modes is as simple as a quick touch of one of the earbud stems; which one is configurable. However, transparent mode is either on or off. I wish there were a way to adjust, via the settings on the paired iPhone or iPad, the relative volume level of the external sound compared to the music or other audio that’s playing. That way, I could hear what people say to me while still reducing the amount of distraction that ambient noise creates. Hopefully they’ll add that in a future firmware update, because all the necessary hardware is already built in. ... show more

This product charges Airpods 2 Second Generation fine, but the light indicating that charging is taking place is tiny and hard to see. Also the contrast between "blue" (ready to charge) and "green" (charging) is difficult to determine in bright light.

Ordered this for myself (AirPods 3) and potentially my daughter (AirPod Pros). We both have different cases for our AirPods and wanted a couple of these around the house so either one of us can just drop our pods for a quick charge. It arrived quick but the packaging was slightly damaged. Even the interior plastic form that housed it was crushed. Still it looked ok so I pressed on with testing it. Plugged it into a usb outlet and everything powered on as expected. So far so good, then I notice the “leather” tray seemed a little dirty tho new and the cable was not wrapped. Also, the leather is more of a yellow, not white. Possibly received a returned unit. Fine, still looks to work. Place my AirPod 3 with case on tray and it didn’t charge. Slid it around and repositioned it. Eventually it started charging. Ok..not great and takes a little positioning. Left it to charge and it did indeed charge the AirPod 3. Tho slow. Next came my daughter’s AirPod pros with a case. Her case is thinner and it picked up the AirPod right away. Great!! Works best on thinner cases. Let it charge and sure enough it worked fine..albeit also slow. So if it works, why the low rating? Works best for no case or thin case. Came used. Yellow tray, not white. Charging is slow even tho it’s usb c. Guess I was expecting more with all the good reviews. It’s just ok. - Update - Had to drop it down to 1 star. If left on the charger over night it gets uncomfortably hot to the touch. The AirPod case and the charging pad. This cannot be good for either product. I no longer use this charger for more than an hour or so in fear of a fire. Save yourself some time and don’t buy. ... show more
