  • The dish locks in every time I turn it on with a clear sky.
I use my dish on top of my motor home to get direct tv service.

  • DirecTV in High Definition awaits.
I used to use a home DirecTV slimline antenna and if the ground wasn't perfectly level I would be hanging off the roof with a wrench trying to line up all three satellites. It was a huge pain. Not to mention trying to find a place for that giant football shaped antenna when you're driving down the road. I finally had enough and had been waiting for the right time to buy the Trav'ler. Lucky for me Prime days had a great deal along with free shipping made it irresistible. As everyone has said. It's freakin' heavy. Please get help lifting to roof, I did it by myself and let me tell you it's not a good idea. Get at least 2 tubes of sealant. Don't be shy about putting it on. I tried to keep it neat and had to go back up and add more after a good rainstorm showed me the error of my ways. I added another tube smoothed it into all the crevices and after it was cured I rolled on some RV white roof coating. Just push one button and it's automatic from there. Takes about 5 minutes to raise and find the satellites and about 3 minutes to fold and stow. It will even compensate for parking on an incline. I haven't tried to use it on a steep hill yet but it seems to have no problems with normal non-level streets and parking lots. The control box comes with tons of cable. I had to zip tie bunches of it to hide it. It also comes with probably way too much coaxial cable as well but at least that's easier to cut and put new ends on. If it was half the price it would be perfect, but if you want DirecTV in High Def this is pretty much the only way to go. ... show more

  • Slimline Antenna a snap to install, but Direct TV is a pain in the A**
I purchased & installed the Winegard Slimline Antenna and mounting plate on a 2018 Cougar 5th wheel. When trying to decide on the purchase (reading reviews) I wasn't certain on the need for the mounting plate, but decided to get it anyway (I could always send it back). When it arrived, it includes all the component parts for antenna operation. The instructions are straight forward as far as assembly and it takes no time to install the antenna and glad I purchased the mounting plate. I did the install by myself, I had the mounting plate and antenna completely installed in about 30-40 mins (including getting tools out), but a little bit of a challenge running the wires from the antenna down into the trailer to the Interface data unit & amplifier, receiver. That took another 2hrs… it would’ve went much faster with help. Now.... with the smooth installation…….dealing with Direct TV is a nightmare..... A royal pain in the A**. I’m so fed up with their customer service/ tech support, if I can find a way to remove/ switch out the LNB head to accept Dish…… I’m removing Direct TV from the RV and my home…. I can’t express my ire at DTV enough without being removed from giving a review….Incompetence at its finest!!!! I would NOT do business with DTV!!!! ... show more

  • As food as there is for the money.
I wish I could give this 5 starts, as it is supposed to be the best there is without spending many thousands of dollars. True be told, it does work well but it is not perfect. When first turned on, it takes a significant amount of time to acquire a satellite, and it appears that it doesn't take many tree leaves to impede it's acquisition, and, unfortunately to interfere with reception. This being said, if it is to be securely mounted and has good wiring, and all things are optimal, it does work well. With this dish, it is configured electronically to only receive Directv. If you want to get Dish or other purveyor, you need a similar but different model to accommodate that service. My understanding is that once you choose, you are stuck with your choice unless you want to put out a couple thousand $ to change. So you need to make up you mind what service you are willing to go with long term before you buy. I would recommend it primarily because in my experience and in talking with many RVers over the last few years, I believe there really isn't a better choice. My experience is satisfactory, but less than perfect. ... show more

  • Service is only available though winegard
The issue I have with this product is it replaced the same dish i had that only lasted 5 years. When the first system started giving error codes winegard wanted me to pull the 65lb beast from the roof of my motorhome and send back to them because no one can work on their system because they will not sell parts to anyone even a selling dealer. It was going to cost me 100.00 shipping each way plus 400.00-800.00 to repair a 5 year old system. This was not happening so i bought the new one here on Amazon. What a hassle and ridiculous way to handle service and parts. It’s a great system until it breaks, i am hoping this one last at least twice as long as the first. ... show more

  • Good antenna
I have been using a King Quest Pro dome antenna for DirecTV with my RV. DirecTV has changed the transmission of some channels to satellites the Quest cannot receive so I switched to the SK-SWM3. It does receive the satellites I need and has the added benefit of providing HD reception, which the small dome antennas cannot do. It also switches channels instantly since it does not have to physically move the antenna when a different satellite is selected. ... show more

  • It's Very Cool
I bought this from Amazon to install on my new Jayco Eagle Superlite 304bhs. I decided to take it to Camper a world for them to install and was informed that the roof of the RV had too much of a curve to mount it. It needs to be on a flat surface to seal to the roof to prevent leaks, as well as to provide a sturdy base to keep the antenna from tearing loose in high winds. Winegard does not make a base plate for mounting on an arched roof. I almost returned it but decided to try and install it myself. i went to a local aluminum fabricator and got a 2' x 2' plate of 0.1" thick aluminum as a base and mounted it to the crown of the roof, using plastic and neoprene washers to shim the edges and getting longer screws to anchor to the roof. I mounted the antenna to the plate and used several tubes of lap sealant to make sure it was sealed. It works as advertised, only failing to find the satellites in heavy trees. It also looks impressive as it spins up to find the satellites. Overall, very cool. ... show more
