I’ve taken my kayak krate three times now. Twice in the bay and once in the ocean and I’m very impressed. I love the top clear compartment. I put my sensitive items in there like my ID and fishing license. All my tackle boxes fit inside neatly. All my rods sit in the rod tubes securely and have the option of putting them at angle which I use when I’m in the harbor with all the boat traffic. The rubber toggles to open and securely close the krate work very well especially out on the water with wet hands. I have had the livewell bait tank from wilderness systems for awhile and was impressed with the quality so decided to get their krate and am not at all disappointed. I love this crate. It's extremely durable and has plenty of space and organization for all my fishing needs. It's easy to adapt to fit in different orientations as well. It is a little pricey for a fishing crate but I feel more comfortable knowing my gear isn't going anywhere in a tip over.

    • Expensive but well designed crate and rod holder
Someone who actually kayak fishes designed this which is really nice. It has basically everything I can think of for a crate and tie down and rod mounting options should work for almost any boat setup. Good size, not too large or too small. It fits on my smaller kayaks like a Tarpon 100/120 as well as my actual fishing kayak. Rod holders are really secure, I bought straps to clip on rods when not in use and I don't think I need them unless I'm planning in rolling or something, and even then the rods are probably fine. It's water tight'ish but the top compartment is more like water resistant, I would still use a dry bag or dry case if you are storing electronics or stuff you don't want to get wet. Holds 3600 or 3700 boxes. I guess one drawback is if you prefer built-in compartments, it's just one space and you'll have to figure out how to divide it, but I think most of us use cases already. The one ding I'm going to give it is that it's really expensive just for a crate. Again, it is basically ready to go out of the box after attaching rod holders, and a huge upgrade over open crates, but it's still pretty expensive for what it is. ... show more

I love this Crate as it hold everything I am wanting it to and then some....I have 4 Buzbe colony 15's in there as well as a full googan money bag full of soft plastics in here and that is just in the main compartment, I keep my "day bag" stuff like trailers and worms as well as multitool etc in the top. The only word of warning like others have said is when opening the main compartment make sure the top is latched first before opening otherwise you will spill everything! ... show more

Well other than looking like a nice Kayak box. It's really not worth the price. The plastic rod holders are a major flaw in this set up. The slot for your reel is absolutely way to thin as you can see in the picture. That is a 30 series reel and when I inserted it, the plastic broke. The box, yah its cool. Functions as intended. Waterproof....ehhh doubtful, but time will tell. ... show more
