  • Great wifi 6 router at a great price!
Let me start by saying most products that I have had that were made by Rock Space are very solid and dependable, this router is no exception. A great wifi 6 router super easy to setup, all you need to do is plug your old router into this one following the instructions in the manual then just swap your router network ID and passwords will copy over so no need to change anything.! The only thing you need to be aware of is wifi 6 is relatively new so you need to make sure your devices are compatable,I own a older laptop and was not able to connect to the wifi 6 network with it. All of my other devices connected no problem. Signal and speeds are the best I've seen in my house at least, dead zones are at a bare minimum. I would highly recommend anyone in the market for a wifi 6 router to buy this router the price is right and the performance is there. ... show more

  • Easy to install but has a lot of problems.
This is my first experience with mesh systems. It was purchased as part of a new home wifi system, replacing an existing Netgear system. The AX1800 router is installed in a home office, centrally located within the residence. One mesh unit is connected to the AX1800. The remaining 5 mesh units are installed in 5 different rooms. All units are within 20 to 30 feet of the primary unit. There are no more than 2 walls between any unit and the primary unit. All the mesh units display a green status light and and have never indicated anything other than a strong signal. The WiFi Extender (1200RPT) is installed in the garage, providing internet access for a standalone device. It also displays a strong signal. After one week of service, there are several problems that we have encountered. The main issue is random loss of connectivity between devices connected via the mesh system. During these episodes, the mesh units indicate a strong signal while the devices indicate no signal at all. This condition has occurred on devices connected via wifi as well as devices connected to the mesh units via cat 6 Ethernet cables. None of the Ethernet cables is longer than 4 feet. This connectivity issue has occurred at various times of the day, morning, afternoon, evening and late night. In most cases I’ve had to shut down and restart the router, primary mesh unit and in some cases the mesh unit providing connectivity to the device. Other issues include problems administering the system. The lack of a windows app that can access all the router, extender and all mesh units is a big problem. I find it hard to believe a manufacturer would not provide both phone and pc/laptop access. The inability to view a single screen that shows all connected devices and their status, is another problem. The user manual lacks any real technical information and is totally worthless when trying to resolve a problems. ... show more

  • Stability\multiple devices connectivity
An outstanding router, great price, easy setup, performs as promised. We have a fully equipped home with many devices using both ethernet and Wi-Fi. Having gone through many brand-name and "off-brand" routers, we have run the full gamut of issues and features. This router replaced a Linksys WRT1900AC that no longer connected to several of our 2.4GHz devices and would have other issues with connectivity. The "rock space" router worked well out of the box, had a simple, yet deep menu that was easy to access. Had no issues with various devices connecting right off-the-bat, and the range extends through thick concrete walls from one floor to the next. Considering the various routers and access points, all Wi-FI devices connected flawlessly. The router has all the modern Wi-Fi bells and whistles, all the connectivity one would want right now, an intuitive menu, and a great price to boot. ... show more

  • A decent router but missing a few key features
The Good: The AX1800 was very simple to set up, and signal strength was very good throughout my home. It's very important to upgrade to the latest firmware as soon as possible to get the latest features, including WPA3-SAE compatibility and Bridge mode. Works very well with modern devices. The parental controls were easy to configure with very granular timestamps, which I appreciate. The Bad: WPA3 is important for the security of modern devices, but older devices won't be able to use it, sadly. My old router supports a combo WPA2/WPA3 mode that the AX1800 lacks. The only workaround is to dedicate the 2.4GHz band to WPA2 and 5GHz to WPA3 (or vice versa, but why would you?). A better solution would be a add the missing mode many other routers use. Note that this does NOT affect the Guest network, which seems limited to WPA2, no matter what you set the Host network to. Bonus tech note: Apple iOS users should use WPA3, or their notifications, like those used by parental controls, may not work correctly. The Ugly: For some reason that I can't explain, the admin password is limited to alphanumeric characters, and can only go up to 16 characters in length. This limits your password to 95 bits of entropy, which gets easier to hack each year. The Verdict: if you only have modern devices that support WPA3 natively, this is a great router for the price after a firmware update. If you have a lot of older devices, and don't mind forcing them to use the 2.4GHz Host network as WPA2, this is still a good deal. However, if you insist on full 5GHz compatibility, you may have to wait for a new firmware update. Just make sure you use a long password when you secure it. ... show more

  • Easy way to upgrade to Wifi 6, and the price is A+
I bought this because of the huge advances in 802.11ax vs others. Search for info about wick 6 on YouTube. This thing works pretty well. The signal is decent, but I’m not getting the range that other reviewers are claiming. Perhaps it’s just a placement issue. If you want a simple router that works out of the box, this might be for you. It’s got a decent GUI, not as much advanced options for power users, but for the price, I don’t mind that so much. The company making them is Chinese if that’s an issue, but they have a decent English website. I wish them the best, as I would like for them to develop a little more advanced options, and I really hope they stay in business. But for the price, all things considered, it’s a decent WiFi 6 router for the money. ... show more
