  • Quick one minute install and works great
I own a duplex and did not want to pay for two separate internet plans. I have the wifi router in one duplex and purchased this extender and installed it in the furthest corner of the second side of the duplex and it works great. Its super easy to install and I was done with the setup within a minute. The device works great and the signal is strong all throughout the house. Instructions: Take device out of the box, plug the device directly into the power outlet, wait for it to blink red then hop on your phone and connect the device to your primary wifi source, choose your password for the extender and you're done. ... show more

  • Claimed coverage of 2640 sq ft is misleading
This device claims 2640 square feet of coverage. That is misleading. You cannot assume it will provide coverage throughout a 2640 square foot house. Coverage is in a circular pattern. The area of that circle is pi * R squared. A 2640 square foot circle has a radius of about 29 feet. That assumes line of sight with no barriers. In the real world the coverage is much less. My router is on the main floor and my office is in the basement. All the locations in my basement where the device showed sufficient signal from the router were too far from the PC in my office to give adequate signal. I was getting better connectivity directly to the router than I was getting with this "extender." I am returning this Rockspace AC1200 extender and ordering another more powerful unit. Editing to add: This seller has contacted me eleven times asking me to delete this review. They began by offering a $10 gift card to delete it. I have notified Amazon after the fourth contact, but the seller continues to try to get me to delete it. They have been increasing the offer, and today they offer $50 for me to delete the review. I thought shoppers might want to know. ... show more

  • does what it says
cant really complain, i got what i paid for. does everything it is supposed to, love that it has an ethernet port that can be used both ways, to supply the signal like an AP or you can connect to a wifi signal with an ethernet port. very nice feature. only reason i wont give it 5 stars is because its range sucks but like i said i got what i paid for, and for the price its a very nice product. wifi signal is fast both the 2.5 and the 5g frequencies its just the range that is lacking, both in how far away from the router you can put it and how far away you can connect to it. if you keep it near the router and have a constant blue light signalling a good connection you will get the best results ... show more

  • Update below
Update 07/21/2021: I spoke too soon. This unit worked for about 3 minutes when I installed it and now it is very intermittent. It is not something that I recommend. I do applaud the sales person who tried to make it right but this is just not a reliable product. My email didn't work at all on the 5ghz setting but youtube worked for about 3 minutes. Now I can barely get it to work at all. PASS on this product!!! Update 07/20/2021: I really needed to update my review to reflect not only the replacement device status but also the fact that this company was really addiment about making sure that I was a happy customer. I got the new replacement and was of course skeptical because the original product did not function well at all (see below, original review). This new replacement looks exactly like the one that did not work but I think the paperwork included may be different (not 100% sure). Anyway I did the same thing except this time It worked and it works well. My email does not seem to load very fast on the 5ghz connection but Rumble dot com which is a YouTube (IMHO communists) replacement website works great! So my hat is off to Rock Space for trying just that much harder to make the customer happy. UPDATE 07/13/2021: I have received a email from RockSpace and they said that they will send me an updated product to try. I will try it out and update my review accordingly, so stand by. I purchased this ROCK SPACE AC 1200 Dual Band WiFi Repeater because I have a low signal in the garage and my garage door has wi-fi capabilities. I was pretty happy to finally receive this repeater since amazon is no longer 2 days and more like 1 week. That however is a separate issue. So I got this set up and entered the passwords for the 2.4ghz and the 5 ghz and the 5ghz would not work at all. So I thought try the 2.4 ghz that should be all I need for the garage. Nope, it does work but it works about a third of the connection that I had with just the router. Keep in mind I have a high end router (Arris SurfBoard SVG2482AC) but lots of huge beams holding up my house so I need something to extend the signal into the garage and out to the front of the house. This is not it and I do not recommend this product. ... show more

  • Works but not as expected.
I rated this product 3 stars because the range is not as great as I wanted. Let me explain: I live in a two story house with my modem/router on the ground floor in a great room off the kitchen, which is close to the main staircase. I have experienced poor Wifi signals on the second floor in the master bedroom . I bought this unit with the hope of improving the signal that I get in the upper portion of the house. I initially tried placing an extender in the upstairs hallway opposite the stair landing, close to the master bedroom, and open to the first floor. No signal. Went down the hall about 13 feet, got a signal, plugged it in, but still didn't get a wifi signal in the bedroom. The extender that I plugged in is exactly 26 feet from the bedroom door. Tried plugging one in the bedroom while the extender was in the hallway, but no signal on the one in the bedroom. My house is relatively open, about 3500 sq. ft., not too many walls between the router/modem and the extender. Not sure why I cannot get a signal in the master bedroom when the extender is not that far away from the bedroom. Plugged one in under the house for my BHyve irrigation timer and got a signal on that one because its closer to the router/modem. Thought by doing that, I could get a good signal on my deck as that extender is next to the door going under the house. No such luck. Cannot even get a signal outside when I'm 10 feet from the door. In summation, cannot get a good signal when outside, cannot extend an extender, and does not work well with walls in the way, no matter how few. ... show more
