    • Very nice toaster with one minor design flaw. An excellent value for the money. Call it 4.5 stars.
First the good. This toaster works quite well and toasts evenly. Unlike most toasters the setting gradations are clear and precise, which means you can remember settings for particular items to be toasted--which means none of the usual approximations when you make adjustments. The fixed settings make a real difference. Wide slots allow for toasting bagels with ease and the bagel setting complements that useful feature. In terms of function the toaster is almost perfect. One extra setting for toasting time might have been beneficial, but that's a verytheoretical consideration. The toaster is a decent size, with an unobtrusive look that I much prefer--essentially straight lines. It's attractive in a straightforward way. There is one minor issue that could be improved on . The toaster is designed to be placed with the controls facing you--nothing else would make sense. But the crumb tray is inaccessible from that side, so to empty the tray you have to turn the toaster around, pull out the tray, empty it, reinsert it, then put the toaster back into proper position. An avoidable design flaw. That's why the toaster rates less than 5 stars, so my rating is technically 4 stars (less than perect) because no room for compromise exists in the rating system. ... show more

    • Finally, a Toaster that works.
Let's face it, Toasters for the most part, suck. Even the ones that are ridiculously expensive don't work as they should, most of the time not all of the heating elements work, so you end up with a piece of bread that is unevenly toasted. My previous Toaster was a two slice Black and Decker which I paid $25 for and had good reviews, but like some many others, it just did not heat evenly. This Toaster on the other hand has been fantastic. All elements heated up as they should, the gate that keeps the items centered is perfect, the size of the slots are perfect for Bagels, Toast, English Muffins, and such. I have owned this the Whall Toaster for about a month now and use it regularly, and It has worked perfectly. I am very happy with my purchase and cannot recommend this Toaster enough. If you are in the market for a new Toaster, you cannot go wrong with the Whall, it is absolutely worth the money. ... show more

Easy toaster to use. Like the "Bagel Only" setting. Toaster even has a symbol; to show you how to place the cut side of the bagel in the toasting slot, as only one side heats up. Knowing which setting to use for toasting doneness is fairly simple. I like a nice golden toast color so I use the next to last setting. And clean up is simple. Just pull out the tray and dump the crumps. The only negative comment I have is the toaster is very light weight. When you push the lever down to toast, you may have to hold the rear of the toaster down as to strong a push will cause the rear to rise up. ... show more

    • Glad I bought this one out of many on Amazon. Perfect for large bagels.
Have had a couple days. Works great for bagels. Slots are easily long and wide enough for halves of large Whole Foods 5.25 inch bagels. Also deep enough to accommodate full surface of bagel, which many of the other toasters are not. I slice a lot of bagels with bagel guillotine and freeze them. Bagel button heats them on cut side only if desired. NOTE: If you use bagel button, put bagel halves in with cut surface pointing to outside. I don't use the bagel feature but I do use the frozen button and setting of 3, which works perfectly. Cancel button pops up toast or bagel without having to force up the handle. Handle also lifts up an extra inch from normal off position to lift out extra short items so you don't have to dig them out after toasting. Very well packaged.     • Easy to use toaster
We gave this to our youngest son for Christmas (kind of a a joke) because he loved using a toaster while we were on vacation. (We've only ever used a toaster oven at home). The gift was one of his favorite. ;) Price was reasonable and the kids enjoy toasting their bread or bagels in the morning for breakfast or for sandwiches. Seems to work as depicted. Just got to REALLY use our Whall toaster over the weekend as we had company (the wife and I loved it before as we found our perfect - and consistent - individual toasting number). The family members that wanted toast was able to go off our numbers and get the crispiness that they wanted. Two wanted bagels that we had frozen so this was out first opportunity to use the defrost option. It worked fine but took longer than we expected - But was told "Hey, look how long it takes to defrost anything in the microwave. Bagel people were happy with the outcome so the defrost seems to work.     • Easy to Clean - Extra Wide for Bagels or Homemade Sliced Bread
I like that the toasting slots are wider than standard manufactured toasters. I like to make homemade bread but I can never slice a loaf thinly enough to toast in a standard toaster. The only issue I have is that the black metal is easily dented. The bottom of the toaster can be slippery on my vinyl apartment countertops. Does the job well. Now for some in depth criticism. I thought any toaster would work. They don't all work well. Our 4 dollar black Friday toaster died after 4 years. Bought a 16 dollar one from menards. Wife was very upset over uneven toasting and a very poor bagel setting. So I bought this one because I liked the reviews and the setting dial. It toasts very well and predictable. More heating coils then cheap one for even toasting with no lines. A bagel setting that works properly. Only drawback is small bagels need a little help. No utensils needed to remove. But its close. Overall it's fine. The cheapest toaster should work this well. But they aren't all equal. ... show more
