Easy to put together, just need to pay close attention. Screws not labeled but none look alike so no issues there. Accidentally put the slats in upside down and needed help to flip it upright. Other than that, didnt really need two people to put it together. Came in two boxes, no futon mattress, remember to buy that if youre attracted to this piece because its cheaper. Like other reviewers said, the screws that keep the slats in place are held in place by flimsy pins. The stress is not on the pins so its no issue, but if you have to take this apart and put it together often, they could break. ... show more

We purchased this to replace a loft bed in a room recently freed up by my son who joined the military. We wanted something to serve as occasional guest room and also a quiet place for reading. Product arrived on the day it was promised. It arrived in 2 packages, one for the main frame and one of the arms. The instructions were easy to follow. Assembly was straightforward. I did it by myself, but they do recommend 2 people for lifting some of the assembled components. The unpacked boxes are definitely a 2 person lift. I was very impressed by the quality of the fittings used. Everything used the same size allen wrench. I did not use the supplied one, but used one fitted to a 3/8" ratchet. It made assembly much easier. Everything fit without adjusting and I was in business in short order. The assembled unit is very sturdy. It is also quite comfortable for lounging. The extra legs for the back work to steady the unit when it is reclined into a bed. The only complaint is that it is not easy to properly position the mattress. I bought the recommended no-slip mats and strips, and they seem to be working. ... show more

I had bought this futon at the end of 2020 for my 40 year old son who lives with me. I had received the check from the govt because of the covid impact and I couldn't see my son sleeping on the couch we have because it is not long enough, so I decided to put the extra money into a good use. I live in an apartment in NYC so I decided to look for something that would help my son sleep comfortably and still fit in the living room. I am so happy I did my homework by reading the reviews and also read what actually came with it. I am still extremely happy that I purchased this futon, it is sturdy, the mattress I bought for it is holding up great and is comfortable for either sitting or sleeping and even though I haven't been able to change the position, my son has no problem. The mattress I bought was not from the same company and is an 8" coil spring, no problem with slipping either and looks beautiful as a piece of furniture. ... show more

    • A Challenge To Build, But Worth The Effort

When I purchased this, I wanted a wooden frame that would be close to the color of the desk and book shelves in the room it was placed. Turned out to be a very close match. I am not a fan of building furniture, this was a bit of a challenge in that I had a smaller room and little space for me to put things together. I was glad for the color coding for the parts as it made it easier to build without having to rebuild because I connected things in reverse. Once it was all completed, I put on the futon mattress I already had from the previous futon and I must say it is a very well built structure. Glad I got this, looks great, very comfy, and I put it together in about two hours by myself. I would very strongly suggest having at least one long bar or pipe clamps to help drawing the back and seat frames together. I actually used two and I’m glad I had them. The holes are milled well and everything fit well, but with the length many of these boards are, the can be just a bit of warp, so having the clamps and a hammer (mallet would be better) is really handy. It’s better to clamp things in place and then tighten the hardware rather than relying on the hardware to draw the boards together as you screw it down. Speaking of screwing things down, having a screw gun with a 5/32 bit will make life a lot easier. Putting it together was mostly trouble free. Wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. ... show more

    • Take your time assembling

The instructions are great but there is so much going on I wish they had a video to watch. I did go online and watch one that was useless because it was speed up too much, but the other, from another vendor was slower, and close up on the things I needed to know before I started. The slats are attached with strapping and there are three smaller slats that go across them, already having the hardware placed which is a blessing. That is the biggest area I needed to visually see because the pattern instructions are small. Once all the outside bars are on, then you need to attach seat to back and then you need to get that into the slats of the arms. Once accomplished then you need to go back and 'tighten' all of the hardware you have already messed with. Important as you expect folks to sit or sleep on this. The allen wrench is fine, but patience and tiime are both needed to wrench away. Small spaces to work in means no additional assistance with another kind of tool. I took mine out, checked for damage (the shipper just creamed the outside), placed everything in my room, checked all the hardware first and seperated it so I know what is what and there is enough of it. Read the instructions, watched the videos' and waited until the next day to start the project. Watched the race and enjoyed the afternoon on the floor. Tylenol here I come! ... show more
