  • Been Using Western Digital For Over 30 Years. Never Had One Fail
Style: Newest Generation Capacity: 2TB
Western Digital has been my go to drive for more than 30 years now. There's a reason for that: I have NEVER had a WD drive fail on me. That's true even when I was building computers for businesses for a living back in the early to mid 90's and they were still mechanical. I almost always used WD drives in my builds (I tried a few other brands at times and it usually ended badly.) WD Blue SSDs are a testament to the quality of Western Digital Drives. They are fast, and they are reliable. ... show more

  • Fast and reliable at great price!
Style: Newest Generation Capacity: 1TB
I like the quality. With technology advancing the price should be dropping down sooner or later! I already bought a couple already for my old iMac 27" to speed up! With the USB casing for SSD it can be used as an external hard drive as well!

  • Drive failed, costing me thousands for data recovery
Style: Newest Generation Capacity: 1TB
I purchased one of these drives to replace the 1TB hard drive in my HP laptop to speed it up. Worked great at first. Definitely helped Windows boot faster, programs to load faster, and everything faster than the old spinning drive. Within about 6 months it failed, "no operating system found." I tried to look at it with another computer to recover my data using a USB drive adapter. Nothing. The drive did not show up in File Explorer. I took it to a local computer repair shop that also recovers data. They were familiar with this drive and its problems, and knew details about how they fail (they used to sell them and learned about the problem from unhappy customers). They said getting the data off it would require replacing the controller, which would require micro soldering, which they are not set up to do, and recommended Drive Savers. Drive Savers has it now so I cannot say if they will be able to recover my almost 1TB of data. They are famously expensive, but have the experience, equipment, and skilled people to do the job. I asked the local repair shop which SSD drives are least likely to fail and they thought Samsung (saying all types and brands can fail). I didn't go with a Samsung drive initially to save about $25. Costly mistake. ... show more

  • Western Digital 1TB WD Solid State Drive
Style: Newest Generation Capacity: 1TB
I recently upgraded my wife's PC with the Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SA510 SATA Internal Solid State Drive (SSD), and the results have been nothing short of phenomenal! Before the upgrade, her PC would take what felt like an eternity to fully boot up – we're talking a solid six minutes of waiting time. It was frustrating and time-consuming, to say the least. However, after installing the WD Blue SSD, the boot-up time has been drastically reduced to a mere six seconds! The difference is like night and day. No longer do we have to sit around twiddling our thumbs while waiting for her computer to spring to life. Now, it's ready to go practically before we can even finish counting to ten. Not only has the SSD dramatically improved boot-up times, but it has also enhanced overall system performance. Programs load in a flash, multitasking is a breeze, and everything just feels smoother and more responsive. It's like giving her PC a new lease on life. Installation was a breeze as well, thanks to the straightforward instructions and compatibility with her existing hardware. Within minutes, we had the SSD up and running, and we haven't looked back since. In terms of value for money, the WD Blue SSD is an absolute steal. The performance gains far outweigh the relatively modest investment, making it one of the best upgrades we've ever made for her PC. If you're looking to breathe new life into an aging computer or simply want to turbocharge your system's performance, I can't recommend the Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SA510 SATA Internal Solid State Drive enough. It's a game-changer in every sense of the word! ... show more

My main go to for needed SSDs

  • Works much faster than standard Laptop drive
Style: Newest Generation Capacity: 1TB
I’m new to SSD tech, and my laptop is about 6 years old and was terribly bogged down by Windows 11 background processes — chiefly Windows Search Indexer. So, I thought maybe said I switch out the drives, I won’t have to get an all new computer in these tough economic times. Short story is that it worked eventually, and the drive is much quicker. When I run chkdsk on it, it does stop and say a couple of error were found, so I’m not exactly feeling totally secure in it, but it does seem to function now that I have it installed. It wasn’t till after I opened the Dell laptop that I saw that it has a slot for the other type of SSD that doesn’t have this traditional shape and SATA connector — and I read that those are even faster, the ones that look like a skinny motherboard and.plug into a slot. I would have gone with that style had I known. Oh well. This drive comes with nothing but the drive. So, you’d need a separate USB connector if your laptop only has one drive interface. And then you also have to go to the WD website to download software to do any cloning and backup — it’s called Acronis. And it was tough to work with. If you are trying to clone via USB, then you have to pull out the original drive and hook that up to the USB cable. And then you have to put the new SSD inside the laptop. If you have two slots none of this matters. But the new drive has to be inside of the computer for it to be made bootable on that computer. Allegedly, it will not boot up if you use any exterior cloning devices. The main problem was that it kept saying it was unable to “lock” the new drive. I tried a bunch of stuff and pulled out an ancient PC to try and get it going. I must’ve tried fitty ‘leven different times, but eventually I did hit the correct combination of elements. Pain in the behind, but it is possible. Does not make up for a slow processor or display that doesn’t look very good, and battery that won’t hold a charge — but it has refreshed my ability to get work done. Also, turn off Windows Search Indexer. Stupid waste of resources. ... show more
