  • Husky loves this thing, now it's stuck on the roof.
I really like everything about this $10 frisbee from westpaw. I did a bunch of reading and educating myself on the whole process of puppy teething and also pleasing textures etc, and I think it was AKC that recommended this frisbee among many other. Of all the things I ordered, this is the only one she still loves. She dislikes really hard/firm toys so it sucks because most of the softer stuff, obviously, is easy to tear apart. Now, this little freak of toy nature falls in between. She is a 55lb+ husky mix puppy and we play tug of war with it, as in it can withstand her nearly being off the ground holding on to this thing. It is sort of the texture of firm silicone, like good oven gloves. She has not pierced it with her teeth yet, although I have seen photos of other dogs succeeding in chewing holes in it. I do not let her use it as a chew toy, since it is primarily a frisbee. We use it for tug of war and for fetching. It ends up being a treat every time she sees it. I have a lot of other toys I rotate in and out, but I collect them all back for the next fetch session. She has other toys she can chew on in the meanwhile. Lot of people report that it is easy to throw. It sure is. And it is light enough that a good breeze carries it even further. Last night the breeze carried it right onto the roof of my house, balanced right on the apex. I can't reach it with my ladder so will probably end up buying another one. I also throw it side-armed badly and it gets this little wobble that the dog is fascinated by. But yes, it is sturdy, light, flies like the wind, and just fun. ... show more

  • Buy This One
Size: Large Color: Tangerine Number of Items: 1
The small frisbees fly great and last longer than just about any other dog frisbee out there. I find that the smaller ones fly better than the large. My dogs like them both. But the smaller ones are lighter, and smaller (duh), and easier to cary and travel with. There are more durable frisbees out there such as the kong. But the kong doesn't fly very well at all. I can't recommend these highly enough. ... show more

  • Love the small size - easy throw
I actually have come to love the small WP “zisc!” I like that the material doesn’t wear on the dogs’ teeth and it is incredibly easy to throw. Just sails so nicely through the air. I prefer the small size also for more needed precision + less weight impact on the mouth for my Malinois. My advice, because Malinois are so intense and active, use the lightest weight and least abrasive toys. Too much intense trauma/impact can lead to tooth resorption and enamel wear if the product is also abrasive. Try to make them run for it and not catch anything head on. Avoid fractured teeth by not letting them chew on antlers, cow hooves, super hard bones, etc. Never use ceramic bowls for water or food as they can chip their teeth that way also. **I came back to add, as some people have said their dogs have chewed this frisbee up, that it’s best to train them not to use frisbees as chew/tug toys. They should be used as a catch/retrieve/return/release toy, which my Malinois does well. However, she loves it so much that if my male Mal puppy tries to get it from her in attempt to play, tugging between the two has resulted in the destruction of one zisc so far. These aren’t indestructible, but they’re again not meant to be an aggressive tug/chew toy. (Plus, mind you, this was two large 60+ lb dogs against a small zisc!) I would always place safety on teeth/mouth when thrown (thrown as I recommended…never head on if you can help it) over a frisbee being an indestructible chew toy that would require more heft. ... show more

  • Tougher than a Kong
Size: Large Color: Tangerine Number of Items: 1
I have 2 dogs, a German Shep and a Australian Shep. Both are High Energy and love ball and Frisbee chasing. The like Frisbee chasing the best because they can play Tug Of War with a Frisbee. Chasing a Green Ball does not allow T.O.W. Regular cheap Frisbees are worthless for dog playing. They do not hold up. Soooo - I bought the KONG RUBBER FLYER, thinking this Frisbee would be a good choice for my dogs. WRONG. The Kong was cheaper $ than the West Paw but it only lasted a week before getting rips. After about a month it was in tatters and useless. I decided to go back to Green Ball chasing for a while. Green Balls last a while, are cheap, but do not allow TUG Of War. My dogs were quite unhappy. No more T.O.W. means less fun. So I broke down and got this West Paw Zisc Toy. First I noticed the West Paw is a harder type material. The Kong seemed like a rubber material. Next I noticed that the West Paw does not Fly as well as the Kong. (Neither fly as well as a regular Frisbee). However - this West Paw is Tough. I have had it for 7 weeks now and after daily chase and Tug of War playing the West Paw does not have any damage. This is quite remarkable. Remember, I throw the Frisbbee and 2 dogs go as fast as they can go to get it. Only one dog gets the Frisbee. He tries to return it it to me but the other dog grabs it and the T.O.W. begins. Usually the Aussie wins and brings it back to be thrown again. We usually play daily for 15 minutes. This gets the dogs good and tired and also makes them very happy. Makes the owner happy too. Verdict: Even at a much higher price The West Paw is a better choice for 2 dogs that love Tug Of War. The West Paw is MUCH tougher. ... show more
