Love this lamp. It’s really beautiful. If Tiffany never made it, they really should have! The quality is great. The pole is metal, but light. The base is appropriately heavy. The stained glass work is just awesome. For some reason on the picture I took it looks more blue than it really is. In reality, it’s kind of color of the ocean, a cool slightly bluish green. My lamp is beautiful. It's tall! I've other floor lamps but this one is taller. I'm using this one in my living room and it goes perfect in my grey colors. I love the quickness of the floor switch. This lamp is absolutely gorgeous. The real glass design is beautiful and detailed, and some of the faceted pieces look like bright jewels when the light is on! The decorations on the lamp pole are simple and pretty and the base is sturdy yet compact. All in all, I really like this lamp! However, it was not bright enough to light up a 14'x12" study with normal ceiling height, even though there was also a task light in the room. This lamp has a 100W max and that's the kind of bulb I had in there, but because of all the blue glass, the light coming through the shade had a blue hue and less brightness; the light was not sufficient and the room seemed too dark and a bit gloomy. See the attached picture to see how dim the light coming through the shade was! I really loved the design of the shade, though, so I decided to try a splitter, and that made the lamp bright enough for the job. I got a two-light splitter and put in two bulbs that are 100W equivalent (but use less than 100W, so I wouldn't exceed the light's max wattage), and that did the trick. Note that at first, I tried 2 splitters that didn't work, as they lifted the top of the bulbs above of the top edge of the lamp shade, which led to a really glaring, unpleasant light. Then I found a smaller splitter/adapter that was low profile and kept the bulbs within the shade, which made the light adequate. (I got the Leviton 128-W 15-Amp 660-Watt Twin Light-Socket Adapter.) Note: the manufacturer includes a soft cloth with the lamp, which you can use to wipe off any residual oil used to protect the shade during packing. There wasn't much oil, but I nonetheless appreciated having the cloth at hand as soon as I unboxed the lamp! Assembly tip: to prevent getting styrofoam everywhere, cut the tape right along the seam where the two pieces of styrofoam shell meet. That way only a few beads of styrofoam are released at each seam, which makes for a much easier cleanup! To the reviewer who was upset that the wire wasn't strung through the base: it isn't supposed to go through the base. The instructions clearly show it coming out the pole, not the base of the lamp, and that is in fact how it goes together. Some lamps thread the cord through the bottom of the base, but this one does not. The second attached photo shows where the cord comes out.
