Directions: It's better boil with soda. Recently I have seen a lot of customer feedback about red water problems. I went to do a tannin removal experiment, add soda and boil, boil for 15 minutes. Soak in hot water until the water is cool. Add new water and continue to boil, cycle 3-5 times. My experiment was repeated four times. Then continue to soak in water, change the water once a day, and remove tannins need for 4 days.

  • High quality pieces
Size: Mopani driftwood (7-11 inch pack of 3)
Pieces were true to size if not slightly larger. The pieces I received were heavy and visually interesting and had no splintering that needed to be sanded. They leach tannins like crazy but that's a trait that is inherent to untreated Mopani. Patient prep work will be required if you want clear water. ... show more

  • Make sure you process it properly for clear water
Size: Mopani driftwood (5-8 inch pack of 5)
Like everyone says, the tannins are of the charts. You obviously have to process it before you put it in your tank if you wanted clear water but it only takes like a week. 1. You have to rinse the wood 2. Boil it for 15 minutes. (The pot might get discolored but it's nothing that can't be scrubed off. You won't need to clean the pot till after you finish the boiling rounds but I'm giving you guys a heads up) 3. Drain 4. Boil 3-4 more times. 5. Set to boil but put half a cup of baking soda and quarter cup of salt. It will bubble/foam so just mix it from time to time. Rinse 6. Boil with regular water 1-2 more times to get rid of the salt/baking soda. Rinse. 7. Find a bucket, fill it with hot water from the tap( you don't need to boil anymore)and let the wood sit in it for about 8 hours with a towel over it. 8. I switched the water after I came home from work and before I left for work. So, twice a day. 9. You will see the water lighten up to a tea shade. After 2-4 days. 10. Rinse and put in your tank. 11. No more tannins. 12. Your tank will probably not be as hot as the water the wood was submerged in and heat makes tannins leak like crazy. So don't be too scared to put it in even if the water is tea colored. PS. If your water does go brown, which it shouldn't, it's nothing a bit of activated carbon or purigen can't fix. Don't be scared of the wood, I think it can sense fear. This is a bit of an aggressive approach and it's time consuming but if you want it processed quickly and effectively, this is one way to do it. Over took 4-5 days and my tank looks good. And it's not leaking tannins. I have a few photos that show what it looks like in different lighting settings. ... show more

  • Good Quality Wood with Flexible Design Options
Size: Mopani driftwood (10-14 inch pack of 2)
The media could not be loaded. I wasn't completely satisfied with the shapes of the driftwood pieces I received from Majoywoo and WDEFUN (9 to 14 inches). However, once I arranged them in the aquarium, they actually created a very nice layout. Since there are four pieces, they can be rearranged like a puzzle, offering some flexibility in design. One thing I really liked is that the wood is high-density, meaning it doesn't float like other types of driftwood that need to be tied or weighed down with rocks. I only boiled them a couple of times for a long period and left them submerged for a few days. I'm still waiting to see if they will release any tannins. In the aquarium, they look beautiful, and the community in the tank seems to enjoy the new additions. ... show more

  • Wood
Size: Mopani driftwood (10-14 inch pack of 2)
I’m always hesitant buying these pieces of wood online because you just never know what kind of what shapes you’re gonna get but let me tell you I was really satisfied and happy the way it turned out in my tank. Looks great definitely would recommend.

  • Sizes were as advertised. Tannins are off the chart!
Size: Mopani driftwood (7-11 inch pack of 3)
I was sure that they would be overstating the sizes so I ordered a bit larger than I wanted (7"-11"). Nope, bang on. Pieces were varied but very good looking wood. Tannins are extremely bad. Very dark reddish brown water after soaking in hot water. But that is what you get with very new dense wood. These pieces are not thin and dried out. Happy enough, that I ordered another batch in the 5"-9" size. Just plan on soaking and boiling A LOT before using. Edit: 18 days later. I've boiled these pieces and have had them in a bucket since the day I received them. I change the water multiple times a day with the hottest tap water possible. The water is a deep brownish red. No sign of letting up. Do not buy unless you want a blackwater tank. Edit: Over a month later. These pieces are leeching tanins like nobody's business. I would not recommend unless you REALLY want a brownish red tank. 2nd picture above is a goldfish tank where I did a 75% water change TWO DAYS AGO! Compare to a no-wood tank next to it. ... show more

  • Very good
Size: Mopani driftwood (10-14 inch pack of 2)
This product arrived as expected. The driftwood pieces were very attractive. And they went right in the tank with no boiling. Stay down very well. Even though tannin Is great for your fish. These did not discolor my water. I would recommend this product.

  • Perfect
Size: Mopani driftwood (13-16 inch pack of 1)
You can see the piece I got in the back right hand side of the aquarium. It was a large, sturdy piece with enough weight to hold it down in the aquarium on its own. I adhered two smaller pieces to the large piece for the exact look I wanted, and then added Java moss to it. I’m super happy with this. It does leach tannins for a couple weeks, but I love the look of natural tannins in the water, so this did not bother me (also, kinda the point of driftwood in an aquarium). I also used some of the smaller pieces on their own in another of my tanks. The smaller pieces do float because they don’t have enough weight, but I glued them to a weighted rock and it worked perfectly. ... show more

  • Doesn't stay on the bottom
Size: Mopani driftwood (10-14 inch pack of 2)
The media could not be loaded. As you can see I soak them in water for 48 hours because they make the aquarium water yellow if you don't soak them before putting them in the tank. I place 1 piece in the tank bit it started to flow. In the picture they're placed nicely inside the tank on the bottom, so I don't understand why they flow. Will return them and try another because my water is very hard. I gave it a 4 🌟 because I love the the texture, size, smell and design of the logs but they flow. ... show more
