My sole criticism is that they do not include a screw, necessitating an additional $7 for a bag of screws. The 8TB WD Black SN850X is just what you would expect from the SN850X series. TLC NAND flash and DRAM give optimal performance, especially good for random and sustained writes. It works well, uses an acceptable amount of power and the 8TB capacity is one of the few or only that is not using the E18 microcontroller (it uses a customized WD/Sandisk). Obviously an 8TB M.2 TLC SSD with DRAM has NAND flash chips on both sides, so consider that in your build. It’s pretty annoying that a memory stick doesn’t come with a spare screw to help secure it into the socket so it won’t flop around but I guess that’s caveat emptor. Either way it works just fine and is speedy even on older gen3 motherboards that do not support gen4.
