  • Works as advertised.
I hate to use such a generic title, but it's true. I have just the one watch, a Timex Expedition, that I need to change the battery in and cannot get the back cover back on without some sort of tool. Then I remembered hearing, or reading, someplace that jewelers use a special press to get watch backs back on. So, I did a search and one of the results was this little beauty. It's smaller than expected, judging by how "big" it looks in the product pictures. However, it is fairly solid for it's size. It comes with a plethora of dies and molds for different size watches. The only problem I had with it, was the threads on the upper "press" arm were bent, making it slightly difficult to screw on the die piece needed for my particular application. I don't know if this is a manufacturer defect, or if it got damage during packing or shipping. Judging from other reviews I have read here, I would have to speculate that it is likely a manufacturer defect. Albeit, in the end, it was very minor. Overall impression is favorable. Thus, if you find you have a need for such a device, the cost is worth it even if you only use it once every 3 - 5 years, as is my case with just the one watch. ... show more

  • Works well.
When I got the press the upper press threads were messed up and crossed threaded. After a little work with a thread restorer the press works like it was designed to do. Made well, good materials but quality control was lacking with the threads. Plenty of dies to choose from. Maybe I just got a bad one. Anyway worth the money if you have press on watch case backs. ... show more

  • Absolutely worth the money!
I replace the batteries on all of our watches myself. Sometimes, you will have a stubborn back that doesn't want to snap back on. This device works with many watch sizes and works as advertised. You have complete control over positioning and the amount of pressure needed. Well constructed and should last a lifetime. ... show more

  • press that back on
Now that I am in the watch repair phase of my life, I realized that to work on watches you will need the right tools- you can't use regular household tools on watches unless you want a more broken watch- the tool is perfect for evenly pressing the case backs on many Quartz made watches- some case backs are very difficult to snap back on- this handy tool does the trick and for the price I was expecting poor quality- however it is a fine tool and work perfect- I would say moderate to good quality. ... show more

  • Nifty device
I was quite skeptical about whether this would work to close the back on my watch. Surprise, surprise! It was easy to set up, easy to use and I got my watch closed in literally a minute once I had everything set up. Really impressed. This is cast iron or some sort of solid metal (I thought it was plastic and maybe why my expectations were low). GREAT! ... show more
