  • I feel like I may have recieved a second.
I expected a lot more. Action was really high. There were several imperfections on the neck that you could feel but didn't affect playing. Headstock had ghosting or overspray. Returned for a more expensive model. Absolutely love the new one. Its easily my favorite. I would recommend Washburn Acoustics ... show more

  • Surprisingly impressed
I was looking for a guitar in the $500 range when I ran across this Washburn while browsing thru youtube guitar review videos. I liked the sound I was hearing and I liked the beveled arm rest that makes it a Comfort Series guitar. I paid $410 for this guitar and will say at this point it seems to be well worth it. The guitar is light weight and very easy to play. Right out of the box this guitar is ready to go. The action is perfect. Somebody at Washburn clearly knows what they are doing. It's the first guitar I've owned that didn't require some type of set up adjustment. The are no fret inlay markers on the neck face so this could be a little challenging for beginners or novices. There are dots on the side of the neck that shows what fret you're playing. Unplugged the tone is a little brighter than say a full bodied dreadnought guitar, but I imagine that will change after it opens up with age. I'm unsure what brand of strings are on the guitar as there wasn't a whole lot of info that came with it. I plan on throwing some Ellixir strings (light 12/53) to see how the tone will change. The Fishman preamp system is easy to use and sounds excellent once plugged into even my crappy amp. My one knock on this isn't guitar related, it's shipping related. There was no care into protection of how this guitar was shipped. It was taken right off the warehouse shelf and had a label thrown on it and put into the back of a UPS truck. Typically this box would be placed inside another box which would have adequate protection from the prospect of being damaged while being shipped. I was shocked when I retrieved it from my porch to see it came without these added protections. The box also had damage to it so I thought for sure I was going to open a box with a damaged guitar in it. I lucked out and the guitar was unharmed. I suppose you always take a risk of buying guitars online. Overall so far I'm pleased with the guitar. If my brain wasn't so feeble, I would come back here in a year after playing this and update my review, but I know I'll never remember to do that ... show more

  • Excellent instrument for the price
Better than I expected. I've read alot of reviews comparing this guitar to Taylor's or Martin's. I wouldn't go that far. It's truly a mid-range guitar with greater clarity and superior action than a lower end Fender, Yamaha etc - just not as great as a those higher end brands. I was, however, impressed with the craftsmanship and out of the box playability. Over all an excellent guitar for the price. ... show more

  • Beautiful craftsmanship
The first thing you notice about this guitar is the quality wood finish. The mahogany binding and beveled arm rest look great between the Rosewood (or Pau Ferro) back/sides and the warm spruce top. Has a gloss finish on the body but a great feeling satin finish on the mahogany neck. The fretboard is rolled and very comfortable with no rough fret ends. The dark bridge and fretboard are very consistent in color with no major fluctuations or contrasting grains. It's a very comfortable guitar to play and looks beautiful. The electronics work well. I didn't have the feedback problems when plugged in at normal volume that I get with other guitars. The built-in tuner is a nice touch too. I would have liked inlays to mark the frets on the fretboard but the dots on the top edge of the neck are easy enough to see. The sound is a little brighter than I had expected. I've always played dreadnaught so this may be just a characteristic of the Auditorium body shape or the fact that it's new and needs to mellow with playing. ... show more
